Sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes, but I simply cannot wait for this game, and I want the hatred to start flowing early.

Image VS. Image

No long winded posts about what this win would mean to the Sabres, because none is needed.

The anticipation for this game has been brewing silently in the back of all our minds for the past few weeks, and it's time for this team to step up and show us that they are truly playoff worthy.

What could be better for this team than a win over Ottawa in terms of getting their minds in the right place for the war that looms ahead?

Win, and this city will love them. Lose, and they'll have a lot more to worry about than two points.

ONCE AND FOR ALL, KILLLLLLLLL THE SENATORS! KILLLLLLLLLLLL!

No more superstitious BS. The only thing standing between the Buffalo Sabres and a win over Ottawa is themselves.

However, in the interest of Karma, please keep the thread clean. :D

NOW JUST DO THIS:

“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That’s how the winning is done.”- Rocky Balboa in Rocky Balboa (Aka Rocky 6)

Sometimes we watch hockey to appreciate the skill and speed of the league's top stars. Other times we tune in to see the tough, physical play of the game's renowned bruisers. More often than not, we watch because of the points race for the playoffs.

These reasons are the motivation to watch for the typical NHL hockey fan for at least 95% of the games on the schedule.

However, every now and then a contest comes along that transcends all of the normal motives, grows beyond the typical, ordinary reasons to watch a game, and becomes something much, much bigger. Something larger than the divisional or conference standings, or the appreciation of the skills and talents of the players, and even bigger than the NHL itself.

Sometimes it's about vengeance, respect and redemption. This game is such a match.

The Sabres have been humiliated, beaten and dominated by Ottawa so thoroughly, so completely, on so many levels, for so long, this "game" has morphed into a contest of reclaiming manhood, demonstrating courage in the face of our perpetual antagonist, and overcoming epic defeats and traumatic physical poundings.

The Senators walk in with the swagger of a team that has imposed their will upon the Sabres, beaten our minds as well as our bodies, and left us staggering in the clutches of a defeatist complex whose vice-grip refuses to budge an inch.

I don't need to tell you about how many times they've beaten us in a row, how lopsided the series record has become, or specifically cite the countless beatings and cheap shots they've meted out over the years.

You know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

This game is not about "who's hot and who's not", "goals against average", "special teams percentages", or any other stat or trend. On this night, chuck all of that out the window, for none of it matters anymore.

May we be blessed on this night, after suffering for seemingly an eternity of humiliating defeats and perpetual despair, to walk the walk of ruthless retribution, and imbibe drunkenly in the sweetness of victory in battle over Motherfucking Ottawa.

Arise, oh Buffalo. Arise and crush thy wretched nemesis.

Amen.

Don't. An internet thread will not prevent the Sabres from winning. They themselves will be responsible for winning or losing.

THEY CAN DO IT.

I don't know, man. It's 2010. I'm sure the hockey gods are just as up-to-date with this new-age technology like the internet as the rest of us. ;)

and its a loss.

youd think, ya know, after 3 of these threads pop up over the course of a season, and all 3 have the same result, people would be all, ya know, its probably nothing, but why tempt it?

and its cool if people arnt superstitious. thats fine. but they shouldnt ruin it for those of us who are. i dunno. acting cocky and arrogant going against a team that has our number and then some.. nothing good can happen from it.

thats a central michigan university attitude. and we dont have that kinda attitude round these parts.

You honestly believe that it's these threads that make us lose?

I will never stop posting them when we play Ottawa, until they win, just to prove that is not the case. :D

Yeah, but for every 5 cocky sabres fans, there are probably 10 that are humble, and 20 cocky senators fans.

Ottawa fans probably do this exact same stuff. I'm superstitious too so I never talk smack, but I don't think a thread like this has any impact on the game.

I don't look at it as talking smack.

In fact, if you read through, so far nobody has talked trash.

I'm simply posting videos to remind us that it IS possible to defeat Ottawa, and adding words of encouragement.

Nothing more, nothing less.

You've heard that, but a number of us have seen first-hand otherwise.
And let's not forget the Sabres fans (ladies, not drunken dude) who were actually attacked in Ottawa.
