Up to an ounce of possession for citizens of California at a time, even if it's not medicinal.

If it doesn't, state legislators aren't doing their jobs.

56% of Californians support legalization.

Definitely. I'm most curious about how much money it'll generate for the State should it pass.

It might be tempting enough to creep into other members of the union.

It will pass.

But it won't really change anything.
The only people enforcing marijuana laws here are federal agents.
The whole "medical" marijuana set up we have is just smoke and mirrors. Anyone can easily get a prescription and the state is covered with dispensaries.

There are 10 places I can legally buy weed within 5 miles of my house right now.

Haven't federal agents backed off because of Obama?

It was my understanding that he has told them to respect the laws of states regarding this subject.

No, not really.
Federal laws always trump state laws...that's why this won't change much.

It's already basically legal...and taxed...just limited to a few hundred thousand people who got a prescription.

Funny enough, cities are now closing down dispensaries themselves because there are too many of them...the Feds don't need to bother raiding.

The state laws and the laws that federal agents have enforced are not in conflict, as many "legalize it" proponents would make you think. DEA has enforced federal laws in which "medicinal clinics" (my ass) have violated state law as well. In fact, almost every enforcement case DEA has pursued has been in violation of state law as well. Don't believe the hype.

At any rate, it's hard for me to believe that a complete legalization won't have much of an effect on the state, in terms of revenue and availability.

But I don't live there, so...

Cannabis is harmless, and useful in many cases. I can't believe the amount of hate and fear associated with it.

Maybe a bit of a bump in revenue but nowhere near what the state needs to get out of debt.
Trust me though this won't have an effect on availability...we're already at saturation.

I don't have hate or fear, except for the Mexican officers that will die over a power struggle with DOTs as they fight to the death to maintain their production level and control of their grow fields.

It's sad that stuff like that happens. Unfortunately, there are always going to be bad people out there who will take advantage of certain situations and ruin it for the rest of us.

People use cars for drive by shootings, get aways in robberies, hit and runs, and drunk driving.

Thankfully, the government doesn't simply ban cars from the rest of us just because there are some people out there who can't use them responsibly.

It'll pass, wouldn't doubt it, and maybe it will eventually pass a law for the entire USA.

Alcohol does worse damage to someone than Weed does and that is legal.

This will be good. If its legalized, legit liscensed growers will be the ones selling it, cutting away a huge black market for California. Hopefully this ends up working out so other states catch on soon.

That's the way it already is.
There's a store around the corner from me with probably 5 large plants growing in the front window.
This will change very little.

the only thing that sucks about this is it gives potheads something to rally around. is there anything more annoying then a pothead whose agenda is "LEGALIZE IT..MAN!"? no. i dont care if you smoke, or if you believe it should be legalized. but the people who turn every political discussion into a pot legalization conversation gets very annoying. good thing we dont have any of those around here.

back when i was a cky fan, i used to post at those forums, and there was a kid who turned everything, i mean, EVERYTHING into his soapbox about legalized marijuana. we could be talking about a car! and he could hijack that. it was obnoxious.

I can think of a lot of things... At least those hippies are harmless.
