Please take the time to read this speech from Gil Kerlikowske. I don't necessarily share the exact same views as he does based on my time studying under him, but this piece fairly well explains my opinions on legalization.

Adding to it - if full legalization passed, DTOs would still find a way to supply supposedly legal dispensaries and retain their cut in the revenue. Legal doesn't mean free, and DTOs would still be a dominant supplier, and find a way through corruption or violence to keep a share of the market. Singapore has a quite effective means of addressing drug dealers, and I wonder how bad things have to get before their method would be tolerated in North America.

So?
An employer can fire you for smoking cigarettes if they want.
An employer can fire you for wearing too much perfume if they want.

Sure it may be legal for him to smoke pot but that doesn't change company policy.

Irony, private company policies don't have to agree with criminal statutes. For instance - at many retail stores employees are required to use clear plastic purses or agree to a search of their purse/bag upon leaving the store. Employees have easy access to merchandise and the policy is geared preventing internal theft. Some view this as an infringement on the 4th Amendment, but they fail to realize that an employee gives up a reasonable expectation of privacy when they agree to company policy under the terms of their employment.
