For those of you who don't know what a Microcell is, it's a device that you connect to your high speed internet and it supplies your house with full 3G service.

Some people hate this idea because they already pay a lot of money for cell phone plans, and this is a cheap way for AT&T to get out of improving coverage in areas.

That said, my building is 100 years old and made of solid concrete, so I get absolutely no service behind these walls.

Setup was a bitch. The device has to be by a window in order to register with GPS so they know you aren't using it in areas that it's not supposed to be in.

The problem with that is, most people have their internet connections in the basement or in a closet somewhere (as I do) and that means you have to run a wire to the window, or do what I did:

I elected to get a surge protector with a battery back up and hook it up to that by the window until it registered its GPS, then unplugged it from the wall (backup batter kept the device turned on because if it turns off, you have to do the GPS all over again) and moved it to the closet where I could connect it to the internet.

After a few phone calls with customer service because their web site wouldn't accept my home address to complete registration, I set up my phones to work with it online.

2 hours of waiting for activation later, I have full service in my apartment.

To me, it was well worth it, because it's impossible for me to use my phone here, even when I go outside.

However, if you decide to invest in this product, you've been warned. Setup is not fun.

I was actually thinking of getting one, because of the way my apartment is set up, in certain rooms I dont get good service, and often don't get texts until 2 hours later...

What the price tag on one of these bad boys?

you could just switch providers.
My house is stucco with a tile roof closely surrounded by 6 ft tall cinder block wall.
AT&T customers get absolutely 0 signal at my house.
My BB on Verison gets close to full signal.

or you could jail break it and put it on another network.

I guess you could put me in the "hater" group that thinks this is a cop-out for AT&T and the only way they're getting away with it is people love the iPhone so damn much.

false. verizon has no plans to bring the iPhone on their plan with the arrival of the iPhone killer, the nexus one. at least not in the near future.

I've never had an issue with AT&T, they've been pretty good to me, it's basically just the weird set up of my apartment that makes me kinda want the hub.

That being said, my HTC phone I love, and I wont trade it for anything. Windows Mobile doesn't bother me, and the apps are very easy to use, install, and uninstall. Plus I can use it to transfer and send my class work and such with Widows office mobile

Tell that to the Wall Street Journal.

AT&T hasn't been bad for me.

Verizon has the same problems in my building as AT&T does.

Tie.

AT&T and Verizon both have 3G everywhere I live, and AT&T's is faster and more reliable.

Win goes to AT&T.

Even if the iPhone goes to Verizon, I won't be switching. I'll be happy if it does though, as I own stock in Apple.

I've never had a problem with AT&T for me at least.

I've had trouble in certain buildings but normally get signal everywhere I go to.

Although the WSJ is reporting on this Verizon rumor, I'm not sure I buy it. It's very un-Apple to do something like this, however they may be trying to tap that Verizon market in advance of their LTE deployment.

I dunno. The iPhone on VZ rumors have been around since day 1. I'll believe it when I see a press release.

not only that, apparently, apple and verizon dont exactly see eye to eye, to put it lightly.

verizon doesnt need the iphone, and apple doesnt need verizon.

besides, after playing with both an iphone, and an android OS, android was better.

Until 4.0 comes out in June.

The next iPhone will once again put Apple 2 years ahead of everybody else.

Yeah, that's always been a point of contention with me. You can have per-contact ringers, but not per-contact text alerts.

I've wanted that for on-call shit since the second I've had this thing.

Exactly...for all of my monitoring tools, SMS and email have their own ring (one that will wake me up ;) )

Multitasking, touch sensitive back panel for scrolling, video conferencing, 5 megapixel camera, double the resolution of the current iPhone, contacts on the springboard, and other things that we won't even know anything about until it's released.
