It would be awesome if Cablevision could be so kind as to give Verizon FiOS permission to carry MSG HD...so I can watch the Sabres in HD, ya know...

It's the same thing as the NFL Sunday Ticket, you have to pay more for HD, when every game is only shot in HD with the cameras at the stadium but you are shown the game in SD.

All they want is more money, and probably put a filter on the feed to your TV to make it look worse.

Wrong. Already pay for the full HD.

I was talking about the SD crap if you don't pay for the HD feeds.

Yeah, skyline i'm not sure what you're talking about. I have the full HD package for regular TV, i've got the center ice package, and when i've called up to bitch about having no center ice in HD, they said that just wasn't available. If they wanted MORE money for it, i'd grumble a bit but probably pony up, my 42 inches of plasma are BEGGIN for it. Christ, it's even caused me to look forward to games on VERSUS. VERSUS GOD DAMMIT!

I'm near you Yankee, and I have D-TV in HD, NFL Ticket (and have to pay extra for those games to be in HD), and Center Ice. Any NFL game on regular channels are in HD at no extra cost because of my basic HD package, but the NFL dictates the rates and fees to D-TV with the Sunday Ticket. The NFL is making money through D-TV, and D-TV has to charge extra (with a little extra cut for themselves of course) to all the crazed (stupid) fans like myself that want ALL the games in HD.

Center Ice can't command that kind of money obviously, so the NHL can't demand a deal like that through D-TV. All NHL games that are shown through Center Ice come in HD EXCEPT for the Sabres home games because of the Cablevision/MSG conflict (for out of state viewers anyway). It's aggravating as hell but there's nothing D-TV can do about it for now. I really should take back the tube TV I put in my daughter's room and hook up a D-TV receiver to watch Sabres games, since the SD games on an HD TV look worse because of expanded pixelation.

Thats interesting, NONE of my center ice games are in HD. That must be frustrating as hell that all your games except sabres games are in HD.

Yankee, if you are paying extra for HD for your channel package you should be getting Center Ice in HD also. If so, you may need to configure your receiver so that HD channels are shown instead of SD channels on your guide screen. I chose an option that completely eliminates any SD channels that are available in HD, to avoid any confusion.

Depends - if he has cable in his area, some cable companies haven't picked up Center Ice HD yet. TWC in Buffalo only did midway through last year, and even now it's only one game a night in HD.

If it's Dish or DirecTV you should be getting it in HD.

Now we have to hope that Time Warner decided to play the games on MSG instead of Mind, Body and Kickin moves. Fuckers.

Yeah, i'm really familiar with the various options regarding SD and HD on my cable box, when I first realized none of the games were in HD I got educated about all those menus and submenus real quick, if there were a way for ME to turn hd on somehow, it would be on. I'm just gettin screwed...but hey, captive audience, I have basically zero options seeing as how I live in an apartment building and cannot get a dish installed.

Well that's the difference (which I didn't realize earlier)...you're on cable and I'm on DirecTV. If your apt faces south and you have a balcony you could still set up a tripod or other base to fix a satellite dish to, without attaching anything to the balcony itself. You could even use a C-clamp (with pieces of plywood as buffers) and attach it to the balcony without any damage. I used both set-ups in my apt days, and the property manager had no way to object.

Yeah, if you have line of sight, a satellite dish is still within your legal rights (google "OTARD").

However, if you don't have a practical way to route the cables from the dish to your receivers, that's a problem too (they don't look very nice sitting on the floor).
