I still throw up in my mouth a little when I think about how the final two series the Hurricanes had to play to win the cup.

The Oilers might not have went to 7 games?

Conklin never coughs up the puck in game 1, the oilers win, and go on to win the series in 6, thus giving the cup to a team that deserved it.

Carolina would have still won that series.

It wouldn't have been in 7 games either.

Um, no. Roloson was playing very well until Ladd landed on him and set the pieces in motion for the illegitimate cup.

Conklin played one game, in which they lost. Markkennen or whatever his named played out of his mind to make them come back from a 3-1 deficit. Carolina won the cup, and would have won even with Roloson in net. That year Carolina had a much deeper team than Edmonton anyways, there was a reason they had 113 or whatever points that year. they were a good team and got even better in the playoffs with Ward in net.

They wouldn't have beaten Buffalo if Buffalo was healthy though, but who's to know, it's history now, we probably wouldn't have won a cup in '99 either had Hull's foot not been in the crease, some other guy could have scored or Buffalo wins game 6 they lose in game 7?

Edmonton's PP was scoring off the charts. The Pronger-Spacek pair was filthy lethal in that post-season. Shit, even Raffi Torres was a dangerous mofo. With Roloson playing out of his skull, there's no reason to say Edmonton didn't have a chance.

Roloson's save pct. was better than Markkanen's .929 to .905. Hell, it was better than most overrated goaltender ever Cam Ward's.

I'm not saying they didn't have a chance at all, I just don't think even with a healthy Roloson they would have won.

The only reason they won game 5 and 6 was at least one shutout by the backup guy.

Osgood's save percentage last year .926 compared to the winning goalies of Fleury's .908.

Umm does sv% really matter then?

The point is that Roloson was playing better than Markkanen in the playoffs and that assuming Markkanen was giving the oilers the best possible goaltending performance is likely a fallacy. There's a reason Roloson was the starter and continues to start games in the NHL while Markkanen does not.

Roloson probably would have won them games 1, 4, and possibly 7.

Yes maybe, but then again, they didn't win, and it's in the past now. Get over it.

I will when I can get my hands on the cup and burn off 05-06 and 98-99.

Any team who can win the cup deserves it. Except the Stars in 99. But they probably would have won in game 7 or later in game 6 anyways.

Gotta remember an Oilers player pushed him into their goalie.

He should make one about the Leafs again, or more about them.

If he had made a pact with the devil wouldn't he be the best there ever was and is currently?

Why? Because Bergeron pushed Ladd and Ladd fell into Roloson.

You're acting like he purposely went out and injured Roloson.

And any team who wins a Stanley Cup, no matter how illegitimate you think it is, earned it, They played through an 82 game season and made the playoffs after those 82 games and they were the team that was able to win 16 more games on top of their season to win that Silver Trophy.
