One of the reports I read was that the guy was attempting to sneak a smoke.

Apparently he WAS just sneaking a smoke, and when asked about the smell, cracked a joke about setting his shoes on fire.

The story here is he was detained by air marshals...the plane got a fighter jet escort into Denver...and because of diplomatic immunity it has been plainly stated there will be no charges filed.
