The Dallas Stars played the Minnesota Wild tonight, winning 4-3 in a shootout. In what could be Mike Modano's final game, after being named first star, he skated laps around XCel Center in a North Stars jersey.

I'll post the video when a clip is uploaded, but hell, just typing about it brought a tear to my eye.

Edit: Added photo, and added video, too

Very cool. If this is indeed the end for Modano, I can't think of a more fitting place to say goodbye than where it all began.

Great player, great guy. Thanks for the memories, Mike! (all except 1, that is... ;) )

I loved the way he left Dallas if that was indeed his last home game. Also loved him coming out in that North Stars uni. Thanks for the clip Phil.

Well played Minnesota Wild for allowing him to do that.

I was going to start a thread about this video, but i guess it can kind of fit in here....Even though he was Star and beat us in the finals, he was a great player with a ton of class.....Here is his last game in Dallas...This was a spontaneous thing that happened DURING the game....The refs actually let it go on before continuing play....Kudos to the refs.....

It was a nice gesture. So do you all think he will retire now? Or just go somewhere else?

Thats why I love hockey. Only in our game would something like this happen spontaneously DURING a game and be allowed to happen.

He either retires or stays in Dallas. He had an oppurtunity to leave at the deadline and declined.

If you look closely, one of the cheerleaders is crying too.

That's almost as good as a crying stripper.

I was thinking maybe he would go back to Minnesota for a year and finish there.

You guys missed the ovation he got in Minnesota DURING the game. I seen it on NHL ON THE FLY the night after the game. It was 2nd period I think and he was just standing next to the boards waiting for the play to start or whatever and everyone just started cheering for like a minute. Then he reconized it was directed at him and he started waving and what not. That was way more spontaneous, because the one in Dallas was his home crowd, and there was a video of him on the screen first. The second Minnesota one was after they already cheered him, and he was wearing a North Stars jersey.
I looked on Youtube, but only the one already shown comes up.
Some help?
