This is the easy explanation...

If Buffalo loses or beats NJ in OT/SO, they get 3rd and play Boston.

If Buffalo beats NJ in regulation they take 2nd and will play either Montreal or Philly - whichever team is the 7th seed.

If NYR beats Philly, Montreal gets 7th, NYR gets 8th, and Philly is eliminated.

If Philly beats NYR, Philly gets 7th, Montreal gets 8th, and NYR gets eliminated.

***Mon has the tie-breaker over NYR, but Philly has the tie-breaker over Mon***

We'd beat both of them.

it depends on who owns tie breakers.

(http://www.nhl.com/ice/schedulebyweek.h ... v-sch-main) remaining schedule.

if the flyers beat the rangers they are tied with montreal with 88 pts.
If the rags beat the flyers they are tied with montreal with 88pts.

88 pts is currently 7th position. and will be the 8th as well.

nobody can catch boston as the habs have no more games boston is in the 6th position w/ 89 pts.

If the Sabres beat the Devils tomorrow they move to 102pts and will take over 2nd place. If this is the case the sabres play the habs rags or flyers depending on who owns tie breakers and who wins between the flyers and rags.

If the Sabres lose to the Devils or win in OT (as a tie would result in a tied record season, and NJ has more wins on the season) they will remain in 3rd and play the Bruins. (http://www.nhl.com/ice/preview.htm?id=2009021227)

The most likely candidate is the bruins.
From one of the headlines on the nhl.com site the habs have a berth, so they own the breaker on either philly of NYC. (http://www.nhl.com/ice/recap.htm?id=2009021214) and from what I'm reading it looks like the Habs own the Breaker on both philly and NYC. (http://www.nhl.com/ice/preview.htm?id=2009021223)

therefore your two possibilities rely on a regulation win by the sabres against the Devils and it will either be boston of montreal.

points: http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?ty ... v-stn-conf

Correct. I also ran the simple percentages, Alot of sources have run the more detailed ones, thats why I put in the post "based on percentages". But you looked up the info, thanks.

So let's review;

Vs Boston = Rask

Vs Montreal = Halak + Refs + Douchebag Fans

Vs Philly = Goons + Piss-poor back up goalies

Personally, I'd prefer Philly over Boston over Montreal, but I believe we'll handle any of them if we play to our ability...

My first post here since sabres.com is dead lmao anyways simply put if philly beats the rangers tomorrow and we beat new jersey IN regulation we would play philly in the first round because we would have the 2nd seed and philly would take 7th do to tying montreal in points but having the wins tiebreaker......If we beat new jersey in reg. and the rangers win we will play montreal and if neither of these happen we will take 3rd and play boston.........

If NYR wins

Washington vs NY Rangers

NJ/Buffalo vs Montreal

NJ/Buffalo vs Boston

Pittsburgh vs Ottawa

If Philly wins

Washington vs Montreal

NJ/Buffalo vs Philadelphia

NJ/Buffalo vs Boston

Pittsburgh vs Ottawa

and the West is just one big clusterfuck

No doubt about it, the Habs are the team we want. They are backing into the playoffs. The Bruins are scary right now (three shorties in 64 seconds?!?!?).

Here is an interesting stat: The Sabres are the only NHL team unbeaten this season when leading after two periods (30-0-0).

Personally, I'd like to see Boston so I can actually go to some of the games! Rask has not played an NHL playoff game, so he'd have the added pressure on him.

I love that stat

Haha, I was going by the title. We would beat the entire trio, if we're being precise.

I want Philly or the Habs, because I fucking hate both teams as well as their fans and would love to send them packing.

Boston certainly ended the season strong. Their confidence level must be pretty high.

If Philly wins and we win, we play them.

That would be nice.
