Snippet of The Buffalo News' article:

His willingness to alter his lifestyle and open his private life to benefit his sport has been recognized. The Buffalo chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association has named Miller as the Sabres' nominee for the 2010 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

The Masterton is awarded each year to the NHL player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." Each chapter of the writers' association nominates a player, then the members vote for one winner from the 30 candidates. Voting will close on April 21.

This definitely seems to Miller's year. Sooooo proud of him. :D

I need to look at the list of nominees, but if Teppo couldn't win it after life-threatening open-heart surgery, I don't think Ryan will win it, either.

Yeah, who won it over him, Selanne?

I think it was Francisco Pisani and his ulcerative colitis.

Ryan Miller, no biggie. What of it?

I see Pisani's commercials every once in a while saying he survived something and is living his dream of playing hockey.

Steve Sullivan won it last year, Jason Blake the year before that.

Phil Kessel lost a nut I think.

I believe it was Steve Sullivan who won it over Numminen that year...I had never even heard of Sullivan at that point...probably because he plays for the Nashville Predators.

Serious business.

Good recognition for Miller though...this is definitely his year.

Serious business indeed. It decimates the digestive system. Pisani's career is still messed up from it.

Teppo didn't even make the final 3;

Steve Sullivan (missed 2 seasons with his fucked-up back)
Richard Zednick (obvious reasons)
Chris Chelios (He's old and barely played)

I thought it was an insult that Teppo was scratched for that old man after having open-heart fucking surgery! Chelios had no business being nominated IMO

Don't Pulp Fiction him. We're looking for Hart and Vezina nods. Don't give Miller "best screen play" and take away his chance at "Best Picture."

Vezina? Ryan Miller plays with a lot of Hart!!!!

Shawshank Redemption lost that year, too.

I love Forrest Gump but it comes nowhere near those two.

I think I'm the only person in the country that didn't really care all that much for Forrest Gump. I like it even less when I tried to go back and watch it...couldn't get through 20 minutes of it.
