they are like a poor mans U2 in my opinion.

At this point, I'd rather listen to The Goos than U2 - with The Goos, you aren't getting the lead singer's politics bashed over your head repeatedly until you conform or turn it off.

Plus, I'm a huge fan of Robby Takac the guy.

He's awesome...my dad knows him. They used to work in the same studio back in the day when the Goo Goo Dolls were just known locally.

To me, he's more "Buffalo" than Johnny Rzeznik. Rzeznik moved out to LA to be a big rock star, while Robby stayed home in the Village. He organized festivals, bought a recording studio where all the local bands record at, and performed in smaller bands for the love of his music.

I'm so happy his Music As Art festival found a home, and especially so at the Albright-Knox. Totally mutual feeling, too - both parties wanted the partnership to happen. Goddamned uppity Allentown Art Festival snobs (still love it though haha).

I'm a big fan of both bands. I've been able to see both of them live too =]. U2 is AMAZING!!! live.
Goo Goo Dolls dedicated a song to anyone from Buffalo, N.Y though at the Tampa show =]. There were a lot of Sabres/Bills stuff at that show =].

I saw U2 live as well, and it was amazing. But I'm more of a club guy, and I'd like to think that The Goos still play clubs or music halls.

Also, the reception they must have gotten in Tampa must have been RIDONK!

Yeah, Robby is definitely more involved in the Buffalo community than Johnny...but I remember reading somewhere that Johnny moved back to Buffalo to go back to his roots to find inspiration when they were working on their latest album.

Yea. He said he got sick of the LA scene and was coming home to record with the rest of the guys anyways, so he moved back for good.

Wow I've never read/heard that quote before but I love it! Perfectly sums up my feelings about Buffalo and why I love it so much.

Haha, I paraphrased the quote apparently, or shortened it anyways. I have it hanging on my wall here at work. Here's the whole thing:

"When you talk about why you would chose to live here, the reasons don't seem legitimate when you say them aloud...but in your heart, there's something real here."

---Robby Takac

Mark Dumas enters his third season as the team's Equipment Manager. He began his career as an equipment manager in the North American Hockey League in 1980. After five seasons in the NAHL, he moved to the AHL's Binghamton Whalers for the 1985-86 season. Binghamton changed their NHL affiliation in 1990 to become the AHL farm club of the New York Rangers and Dumas remained with the Binghamton club for another seven seasons. When the Rangers switched their AHL affiliation to Hartford in 1997-98, he moved with the team and served in the same capacity with the Wolfpack for one season. Prior to coming to Boston, the native of Utica, NY spent seven seasons as the head equipment manager for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL. Dumas and his wife Betty have two sons, Mark and Matthew. Mark is in his first season on the Bruins' equipment staff.

I work with this guy's brother.

I got $10 on the sabres with that guy.

I thought about the whole jinx thing. And I've generally been superstitious my whole life, which has failed to win us a cup. So in essence, fuck it.

I think we can all agree, don't anger the hockey gods. Don't play cheap, don't run up the score, and don't put numbers behind your net for no reason.

I'm not superstitious at all. But I hate when people say they aren't either but then I yell the word shut out and they piss themselves.

The Bruins are confident he'll play in the playoffs. I haven't heard anything more specific than that.
