Who else had their plaza experience compromised?

Funny thing is that if the sabres are trying to make at least some money off the plaza (beer and food sales) they are cutting at least 1000-3000 peaople out of the plaza.

It did look even more cramped than usual from what I could tell when the camera would pan outside when watching on TV. As noble of an idea as it is to have to go regardless of rain showers and whatnot, I think I'd prefer to not have the tent there when I get my chance in the plaza.

Maybe it'll be better appreciated if there's actually a bad storm one of these gamedays lol.

completely agree. the screen needs to be raised as well. it got to the point where i questioned myself for being there. do i go to the plaza and watch part of a screen while douchebags fight next to me? or do i stay at home with free beer and watch it in hd?

still glad i went, the energy was unmatched. but i would like to see the powers at be make some adjustments

One of my buddies was hands down the biggest guy there, and people were just elbowing him and jawing at him the entire time to gain position.

I went to my spot after going to get food and beer, and people were just throwing elbows. I had one guy just pushing on me the entire game for no apparent reason, he had plenty of space.

But that's part of it. I didn't mind it too much, although I was next to the front right speaker and I can't hear shit now.

Hmm...maybe shoot the Sabres an e-mail and see if you get a reponse? Maybe they'd like to hear some feedback from the fans. I only stuck around for a little bit, I went inside early to get some shots of the players warming up. But I don't have a ticket to the game on Saturday, so I planned on watching the game in the plaza.

I'm 5'10, I really had no issue seeing, and even when I did, I didn't really care. My only complaint is that the tent produces a narrow strip where there is decent visibility which they could take care of by adding a screen or two.

I guess I'm just wondering why the sabres decided to put up the tent. 07 was perfect with the screen on the stage, allowing EVERYONE regardless of height a chance to see.

Excuse me for not showing up 2 hours before faceoff to claim a spot in the tent and be forced to listen to shitty garage bands...I have a life. My group showed up at 7 and were banished to the outskirts of the tent surrounded by people climbing the tent poles.

Pros:
protection from rain (on a sunny 65 degree wny day)

Cons:
Inside is too crowded
limited space (fans being sent away)
drunk retards climbing poles
feels like your in a...tent not a plaza

I knew there would be a good amount of people and visibility may be difficult. I showed up at 3. :)

They should remove the tent...eventually. It's April; it rains a lot. In a couple of weeks, I doubt it'll still be up.

I dunno, man, I thought the atmosphere and crowd was fun as shit. What's better than getting drunk and crowding a bunch of people into a living room? Well, I'd say it's scaling it up a bunch!

(Sorry about my post, earlier, by the way - overreacted before I thought about it)

yeah, i left after the first period because i couldn't see. i believe the screen used to be about 12 or 13 feet up and there was no tent. i had no problem seeing the screen previously. but it's not fun when you can't see what going on, especially when a can of beer is 6 bucks.

We didn't really bother to push forward into the crowd. We were in the back the entire time, and could see fine.

I do think that the tent contributed to some of the hostilities as everyone was crowding in there trying to see. They would do well to think about not using is.

Definitely agree. I could see fine most of the time, but I have some shorter friends who could not see a thing. And you couldn't see the screen outside the tent unless you were going straight out the back.

They could even keep the tent but just add another screen on the outside - right now since there's more people there than can possibly fit in the tent there's going to be visibility problems for some people.

Well the other major issue to the hostility was the amount of drinking they let go on. I mean, I'd of been perfectly content limiting beer to 2 per person; because some people were so drunk they couldn't even spell their own names. Sure it's a money maker, but I had about 8-10 beers when you think about it, and there were people way more hammered than me there.

Just a thought; but I can see why they used to limit it.

I concur about an extra screen as a possibility, but I honestly feel they'll be getting rid of the tent as the playoffs move forward. And, and this is just me, they won't have any problem keeping people at the PITP with the tent up.

I wouldn't mind getting rid of the tent. My biggest gripe is I think they should raise the screen higher so no matter what your height is, you can still see. I understand why they put the tent there, but if its a nice day and there's not really a chance of rain, take it down. and if they're still worried then put a small tent over top of it to protect the screen and stage.

Either way, it was still a very fun environment and it's always nice to be around passionate sabres fans.
