I knew these guys were going to be tough from the start. Two shots off the iron in game one bounce the other way and we would be looking at going to beantown down 0-2.

The Sabres have to play like they did in the first period all game long or they will find it is a short playoff.

This was obviously just a strategy. They took half the game off, so they'll be well rested going into Boston on Monday whereas the Bruins will be tired out.

I miss Hecht. Connolly has not been doing him justice..at all....Passes were off today and that led to Turnover central in our own zone...The Sabres need to take this game, learn from it, and come back HARD next game.

Quit jumping off them after ONE single loss in a playoff round. Don't expect us to win 4 straight games.

Yeah, but if they had just gave that much more of a shit in this game rather than half assing it, then we would have won and be up 2-0 going into Boston. Now the series is tied and they have all sorts of hope that they can win this series now. Especially scoring 4 goals on Miller

Yeah, my uncle is an usher at the arena and believe me...they don't have any "inside connections" or anything like that. It was probably just the usher's opinion from what he saw, not from something he heard from someone within the organization.

The injury did look bad from what we saw though...just praying it's just a bruised knee or something. :(

But it's not the end of the world like everyone in this thread is stating.

We scored three on Rask, we didn't do that all season long either.

Still plenty of games left. Don't just give up on the team right now, and games go back and forth throughout the game anyways, it's very hard to control and entire game with how the momentum shifts so easily. You can play great for 60 minutes, but the momentum might not be on your side for 15 minutes of it.

Indeed. The ushers aren't even Sabres employees; they work for the Arena.

It's a cool job too... You basically just seat people and then stand there and watch the game. What my uncle does when he has a night off is he'll buy cheap scalped tickets for the cheap seats, and then he asks one of his buddies working in the lower bowl to keep an eye out for vacant seats, and then he'll sit down there when there are no shows.

Yeah, I know a couple people who do it. I've thought about asking about getting into it, but I'd be bad at it. Plus I'd have problems if I was on call that night for my real job. :)

Im not giving up on then. I never said I was. I'm just saying it's really fucking annoying when they just don't give a shit on the ice. The Bruins gained momentum because we allowed them to by not controlling the puck and giving them turnovers. Like I said, if they tryed for most of the game, then Boston wouldn't have had the chances they did leading to them scoring. I just Hope Lindy is giving them hell right now.

Yes and no, seems like everyone posting is just giving up on the team already.

We lost by one goal anyways, yea I know it was 5-3, EN's don't really count TOO much.

Three of their goals was all from more luck and just purely shooting the puck or forcing the puck to the middle.

The team played well throughout the game but lost, even when they weren't controlling the play they were blocking shots and taking away the shooting lanes, that was a huge reason why those passes bounced off the sticks of opposing players to an open guy. Because it was fed in real hard with a guy in front of the intended player.

Alright...I'm just trying to be level-headed about this. It's hard, but that's what you have to do. I live and die with every moment when it's the playoffs. But the reality is, the playoffs are hard. I believe that the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all professional sports. There's always going to be adversity, and we just have to see how this team responds. We have a good handful of experienced players who know what it takes to win (and lose) in the playoffs, and we have a handful of young guys and rookies who haven't yet experienced that yet. So it's going to be interesting to see how that all balances out.

The bottom line is, it sucks that we lost, but in no way was this series going to be an easy one for either team. We have a hell of a coach in Ruff and we have a superstar in net for us... Just have to think about the positives. And pray like crazy to the hockey gods that Vanek isn't out for an extended period of time...

Thank you, exactly what I believe in also. It was game two of a 7 game series, no need to fret yet, if it had been game 3 and we were down 2-0, then it's something to start worrying about even more.

I agree our PP has to be better, but the Bruins were also one of the best PKing team in the league also, both team's powerplay goals should come far and few between. Plus trying to enter the zone on the PP is going to be hard with four guys at the blueline every time also.

Here we go with the discounting of goals again.

Ahem, in case you weren't paying attention, the WINNING GOAL in game 1 by Rivet was a total luck shot. Just ask Rivet. You could tell by his reaction (not to mention his season total of ONE goal) that he shot that thing at the net with NO expectation it was going in.

fuck my ass, that sucked.

i will say this. its a tiny sample of the game. but on the bruins tying goal (2-2), the puck was knocked down by a high stick in the neutral zone, but play continued and they scored.

Five more games in the series. Five more games in the series. Five more games in the series.

But fuck me, no Hecht and now no HDTV?
