The later game when the emotion begins to wear off is when the better team starts to assert itself and pull away, and I still think Vanek or no Vanek, that's us. If we can score early, I highly doubt we collapse again.

This one might end 1-0 or 2-1 though.

I think the Sabres win this one 4-2, the last goal being an empty netter.

I expect Connolly and Pominville to be much better. I also expect big things from Ennis, who will be going really hard to make up for the bad play he made last game.

I think this team can win now that the initial let down of Vanek's injury has sort of dissipated. They've done it before without him, and they sure as hell can do it again. Plus now that they know he could be back relatively soon, that may give them an extra boost to at the very least win this game handily.
