Free agency:
offensive side - Stempniak. probably 3 something.
Defensive side - Lidstrom maybe he'll accept less as he is getting older, you talk about role models. I think gonchar is really starting to deteriorate. i think the pens are going to miss his leadership but not his defensive prowless. i have mixed opinions on the free agent defenseman. Martin is interesting, as are some of the RFA defenseman, just ask are you willing to part with the picks.

A suggestion is Exelby the guy is quite physical. don't know much about his game though.

I'm still a fan of trading for Mike Fisher (add's grit as well) as he is a better fit for the system buffalo is currently running, I'd more than willingly give up roy, stafford, for fisher and a pick. Connolly i'd be willing to part with at the deadline as he's very injury prone. I like your idea for a prospect but i don't think Pittsburgh will give up Tangradi, kind of think a defensive prospect would be a good idea.

I see where you are going with Nolan but again i think he is starting to deteriorate, and Grier would be a better option.

I've also looked at Matt Cullen as he will help our powerplay.

B&Y, you're exaggerating some. I haven't seen him be a TO machine like Roy, but his speed is certainly down. When you can't maintain space like normal, that's going to throw your game off. Connolly hasn't been able to drive around anyone or keep defenders off him. That line has been reduced to dump and chase with two midget wingers on the forecheck, Ennis and Pominville. This is a huge mistake IMO. Torres should have replaced Hecht and given that line some board work. Instead that line is predictably getting pushed around.

After this season I really don't wanna part with either Hank or Lyds, let alone both of them. I know keeping them both is not very realistic but still - losing them sucks big time.

Every player on our Top 6 was here in the playoffs two years ago, unless you count Kennedy in the top 6 which I don't. I refuse to accept the "their adjusting to this" argument. This team has PLENTY of playoff experience at ALL levels of forward AND D AND goal, and this shit is just plain not acceptable.

He's going to command about 5.5M on open market, and thats about 5 early draft picks over the next few years. Not exactly a great move when you're still trying to build up a farm club, and create a future core. If we had 10 solid AHL/NHL level forwards, and 4 solid AHL/NHL defensive prospects I'd be all for it. But it's just not the right move at the right time for an organization that is only 3 years into having their own farm system.

Not to mention any reasonable offer ANA will match, they ahve about 19M in cap space with 17 players committed on their roster already for next season.

It's a tough sell for me, especially with other players out there that are more consistently impact players, such as Lombardi, Marleau, and Paul Martin, all of which play positions we need, and add veteran leadership and playoff experience
