Bryz and Brodeur are his competition?

He's got it in the bag. That one thread at HF convinced me of it. Well, I already had him picked for the Vezina with no real competition a while ago, but that thread convinced me that he deserves the Hart over Bryzgalov, too.

Which one? There have been a million "Miller or Bryzgalov for the Hart and/or Vezina?" threads over there haha.

Ummmm it was made maybe a month ago? Three weeks? It was that one thread.

I think it was the first such thread made, at least the first one made that was taken seriously (any previous ones were met with something like, "IT'S TOO EARLY YOU MORON"). The last few pages were like, "OK, Miller definitely needs to win both." It was all detailed stats, team comparisons, just everything broken down, and the people who were arguing for other candidates just sort of stopped because they couldn't answer it IIRC.

I doubt that he will win the Hart as well as the Vezina because it hasn't been awarded according to its actual definition in a while, but he should.

As much as the olympics may or may not have an impact on the NHL awards, Miller has not only had an amazing season holding this Sabres team on his back, but he held Team USA on his back to overtime in the gold medal finals and has elevated to all-star and almost "face of the league" status in the US (behind Crysby and probably Ovechkin).

Props to Bryzgalov, Rask and Brodeur, but IMO this is Miller's season to win as far as awards are concerned. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't get something.

That's the way I see it too. It's hard for me to get excited about this while I'm so nervous about tonight's game.

Think he means Bryzgalov will win the Hart and be a Vezina nominee.

i dont think you can win the MVP and not win the best goaltender. that seems ridiculous.

You can be the best goaltender on a better team, thereby being less valuable to your team than a goaltender you're slightly better than who plays on a worse team.

I honestly don't know how Miller couldn't win the Vezina this year... he allowed 6 less goals than Bryzgalov despite having faced 137 more shots than Bryzgalov, and he allowed 18 less goals than Brodeur despite seeing 94 more shots than Brodeur.

And winning percentage with these goalies in net?

Bryzgalov in net: Coyotes won 60.8% of games.
Miller in net: Sabres won 59.4% of games.
Brodeur in net: Devils won 58.4% of games.

Now, this factors more into the MVP type category... but when these teams played WITHOUT these goalies, their records looked like this:

Coyotes were : 8-5-1 (57% of games won without Bryzgalov)
Devils were : 3-2-1 (50% of games won without Brodeur)
Sabres were : 4-9-2 (26% of games won without Miller)

Isn't it clear which goalie was more instrumental in their team's success here?

Miller had the second best Sv% and second best GAA. If he doesn't win the Vezina something is wrong.

The Yotes are a better team then Buffalo.

Simply put that Miller is the reason we don't have the number one overall pick this year.

Yotes and the Sabres are very similar... Not amazing OFF or DEF but awesome goaltending.
