Just heard on WGR from Paul Hamilton.

Not sure who's getting pulled out of the line up. Speculation is Drew Stafford.

EDIT: Link now provided.

I hope if TV isn't playing up to par, Lindy realizes it and benches him for: 1) we don't lose our physicallity and 2) he doesn't reinjure himself.

It looks a lot more like Stafford is sitting with Vanek going in.

Vanek could have his left leg amputated and he'd be less of a liability than Stafford has become.

Glad he is back in. I hope he goes and rips it up like he did before he got injured. Let's go Buffalo and letd go Vanek.

Catch 22..

I want Vanek to be giving 110% effort out there, but I think skating as hard as he can will only make his ankle worse..

Not too pleased with him being in tonight..

As much as we don't think it, I think Thomas's work ethic on a bum ankle outweighs Stafford's ineptness.

It's not so much I think Vanek isn't gonna give a good effort, but skating hard on an ankle that is not totally healed from a sprain will only make it worse.. After the game and after the painkillers wear off, his ankle will probably be THROBBING..

Once he gets out there and starts skating the adrenaline will kick in and he won't even notice it. I think he'll give the Sabres a good boost going into this game. Can't worry about how he'll be for the next game if we don't win this one.

So sacrifice the Vaneks ankle for the rest of the playoffs just so he can give us a boost tonight?

It's not like we can't win without him.. Our team played amazing when out back was up against the wall, and I think we're gonna play great tonight even if we didn't have him..

If playing tonight would irreparably damage Vanek's ankle to the point where he could be knocked out of future action, he wouldn't be cleared by the doctors to play. If he can play, and is a better option than someone already in the lineup, then great. Play.

If Vanek has been cleared by the medical staff, and has convinced Ruff that he's good to go, then fine. All this worrying about what might happen down the road is silly.

If we don't win tonight there will not be a "rest of the Playoffs."
We need to do everything we can to win tonight, if that means a bit of a rush on Vanek then so be it. I doubt Vanek would go tonight if he didn't think he could be an asset to the team.

if not obvious, I'm very excited to see Vanek in. Kind of wish they would keep Gerbe out rather than stafford though. (Don't destroy me on here if Gerbe is not playing tonight and I didn't hear about it yet, as I have been busy taking exams all day :D )

We don't need Vanek this game.. We did just fine last game when our back was up against the wall and he was out.. Yea this game will be much tougher and I think he might be fine after the game, but Id be pretty pissed if he reinjures it and is out for the rest of the playoffs..

I love the guy, and I want our biggest guns out there in the playoffs.

But...we found the formula to win last time. CONVINCINGLY, and we actually held onto the lead. I just dont want to mess with that formula at all.

I'm torn.

I guess my point is that I can't even begin to think about the "rest of the playoffs" when we face elimination TONIGHT. Whatever it takes to win...TONIGHT.
