Ahhh damn it you beat me to it.

Quote:
NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils coach Jacques Lemaire has retired following his team's first-round playoff elimination for the third straight year.

Lemaire made the surprising announcement Monday, four days after the Devils were ousted by the Philadelphia Flyers in five games.

The 64-year-old Lemaire says he doesn't have the energy to coach anymore. He will stay with the Devils in a role yet to be determined.

Does... does this mean they'll stop trapping?

No. It's in their team charter that they must trap at all times. :)

I think Brodeur would also have to retire for that to happen, but here's to hoping!

Pat Kane pointed out in the Kovulchuk thread that Brodeur has been pretty crappy lately and I agree. I think that situation is one reason why Lemaire quit. Brodeur will insist on playing 70 games like he always has. Any sensible coach would have him at 50 games max next year, and Marty and his ego won't like that.

It might just be the fact that he's sixty four years and the stress from dealing with the media and fans after the third consecutive year his team got bounced in the first round by a lower seed wouldn't be healthy.

Hell of a coach though, even though he basically ruled the trap years.

If I had decided to jerk off instead, I probably wouldn't be paying child support...
