I'd agree, Hecht was a bigger loss than most of us thought.

thats one interesting thing. we can blame whoever we want it won't change a thing. the only one who can change things doesn't care. Quinn and regier can make the team better, will they, i doubt it. It's like the Bills as long as people are paying to see the games the boss man is happy. One benefit of having owner's who care. the trickle down theory. owner cares, GM cares, Coach cares, Players care. I feel The owner sees the team as financial tool, the GM is just trying to keep a pay check flowing. Sad yes. Though having an unbiased policeman who would take action whether it be ref or player fault would be nice, as the gary bettman era seems to play favourites much too much.

But we scored goals and had leads. And some of them evaporated because we couldn't kill a penalty.

Hecht is one of our best penalty killers.

They just didn't do it.

I still think had Hecht been in it wouldn't have been as bad, he hurt us too much on the PK in my opinion.

So you're assuming he would be the ONE Sabre vet to show up? Why do you automatically assume that when so many others didn't?

Didn't Boston score 6 PP goals? That's not good enough penalty killing in the playoffs.

Like I said, you play so great for a few minutes straight and then the refs call you on a bullshit penalty you just get deflated and lose your momentum.

That's a cop out.

You're basically admitting this Sabre team was simply not good enough to compete for a cup, because great teams DO get through this.....by not letting it get in their heads.....and by scoring!

Their mental collapse in game #2 after Vanek went down was disgusting. What is he, their daddy? That event is exhibit "A" of why this team is too soft to compete effectively in the post season.

The foundation is weak. I don't care how you do it, but CHANGE THE CORE.

I can't assume he would of helped our PK? Why not assume it, we're out of the playoffs and having Hecht out takes one of our best PK'ers and puts someone who normally doesn't play the PK out there you're not going to have a great PK anymore.

Hockey is a momentum game, you have to earn it back by playing. A ref takes it away, you kill the PK off and earn the momentum back. If you don't, you'll lose, and that is exactly what happened in Game 2, they didn't earn the game when Vanek went out, even though they led 3-2 going into the 3rd, they didn't do anything after that.

This team scores ONE powerplay goal in any of the losses and this could have been a completely different series.

Officiating was horrible. Inconsistent. Period. No doubt about it. In addition to that, I can't think of a single lucky bounce that went our way in the entire series.

BUT...

As somebody mentioned before - good teams find ways to overcome things like that and we're just not there yet...

But Boston could do what ever they wanted. Interference, boarding you name it. When we tried to make a play and they tossed McCormick into the net it was the end of that play and it became 10 times harder to win the game with two penalties against you in what 5 minutes? It's all about what Boston was aloud to do, pretty much cheat.

The refs were to blame, yes, but it was on the Sabres to reverse what bullshit the refs were pulling.

As much as I screamed about the officiating, the Sabres just couldn't dig deep.

I didn't start this thread as the only reason the Sabres lost. I wanted to state that the refs DID play a role in the outcome of the games. The refs should NEVER play a role in the outcome of games. As i've always stated, there's never any one reason as to why a team doesn't do well. My main complaint is that the refs played a semi-big role in our demise, when they should have played NO role in it.

I see that everyone just writes off the refereeing. In this series that shouldn't be happening.

If you notice the officials in a sporting event, they're doing it wrong.

I agree Phil. They lacked heart, size and grit. They got their collective buttholes stomped and without an injection of size into the line up and an honest to god score machine up front, we're not going to be able to cash in on having a world class goalie....sound familiar?

Tom and Brian, yes so much.

Pat, today Ryan Miller said at clean-out, "I'll go to battle with the guys in the room. Personnel is up to management." - I don't like the sound of that at fucking all.

Yet when someone responds to this, you get all pissy.

Connolly has been on this team for almost ten years. Get rid of him.
