Gerbe could very well be a Theo Fluery, he shows he isn't afraid to take a hit or to give them.

Gerbe may not be the tallest but he is one strong motherfucker, he is stocky and built like a tank. Give him some more adjustment time and I think he very well could be over a PPG player, not by much just like Theo was, but enough to make him an impact player.

Ennis is so shifty and amazing to watch right now, he will be a top player in this league for years to come.

I said it in the GDT, Gerbe and Ennis are full time NHL players now.

This is the best way to sum up this thread. 100% spot on.

fluery is a hall of famer, and a legend. all the optimism in the world shouldnt put these two in the same area code.

Pretty much.

Ennis got into the lineup and played so well that Lindy couldn't take him out.

Gerbe was sent back down for other players to be inserted into the lineup.

That should tell you what you need to know.

Gerbe was a point per game player in the playoffs for us. Small sample size, but better than anything we can say about our top two centers.

I think Gerbe is comparable to Marty St. Louis. I know I said that in an early thread, but they are almost the exact same player. I would keep an eye on Gerbe, him and Ennis can be big time players in little packages.

I want to know why people say Gerbe is strong, the biggest scrap he's been in was when he just pushed someone... Damn.

I saw Nathan Gerbe drop a man with a single punch live at HSBC Arena when he was a Pirate in his rookie year. I was in 117, just around the glass from where he did it (behind the River Rats' net).

Everyone said the same about Fleury, he's too small to make an impact in the NHL and anywhere he played, him and Gerbe are the exact same size basically, how do you not compare two guys who were never to succeed in any level they were suppose to play at?

Gerbe hasn't even had real NHL experience over a full season yet, you can use them as a comparison, or how else are you to judge what he possibly could do.

negative. theo was seen as a dynamite player, he put up stats where ever he went. theo would have doubled, maybe even tripled gerbes offensive output at BC. a point per game player in the NCAA isnt as good as a point per game player in juniors, and theo was doubling that.

gerbe might be a real NHL player who gets 20 goals a season. he is NOT theo fleury. even if theo was missing a leg.

I would love to have Ennis and Gerbe turn out to be good/great players. I would also love a Vanek-Ennis-Frolov line next year too. ;)

I thought at first Gerbe might be comparable to St. Louis but since the first time I seen Gerbe play he's nothing like St. Louis and never will be as good as St. Louis. Marty has excellent vision and makes the players around him better and he's really crafty with the puck. Gerbe has good speed and will go into the corners but St. Louis seems much stronger on his skates compared to Gerbe. I really don't even think it's a close comparsion expect for how tall each other is.

Well, Marty has been in the league for a long time, Gerbe hasn't had any full seasons. I think he'll take time, give him some more games this season so he can get the idea of how much of a grind the NHL is, then I think we can asses him fairly.

Gerbe isn't good enough to be a good player. Decent player, but not good. IMHO, IMHO, IMHO. I know someone is going to ask for my address and fisty cuffs for this.

Why compare St Louis to Gerbe anyway?

St Louis is 5'9, not 5'6, Ennis is a much better comparison to St Louis.

Also Mike, you gotta remember the scoring and goaltenders were not as good as they are now. He played Juniors in the 80's.

Not a single player except for like Crosby has 2PPG in the Juniors anymore. Hall and Seguin this year are only over a PPG, Stamkos wasn't, Tavares was real close, but now it's much harder to be 2 PPG in the Juniors ten it was then.

It's alright. I'll let his play do the talking.

At any rate, I know that at the very least, the people who don't agree with my assessment would be thrilled to eat crow. :D
