I left Buffalo in 2000 so I've never seen any of the current Sabres...but back in the day I saw Afinogenov pumping gas and Zhitnik pulled up next to my Dad and I at a stoplight. I believe Z was driving a Hummer.

Afinogenov had the pump in his ass that's how he got so fast.

Unless they switch affiliates back to Rochester I probably won't be seeing any.

Paul Gaustad would be proud. Maybe if we bump into him at Wegmans we can ask him if he wants to join.

I've had plenty of encounters.

When I was very young, I met Jay McKee at the bar of the Broadway bowling alley across from Holiday Twin Rinks. I was about 10 at the time, so it was about 2000, I think.

I met Erik Rasmussen at the doctors office once. My primary is Nick Aquino, and he's the teams primary physician as well, so I'm sure if I hung out there a bunch, I'd meet the whole team.

I met Miroslav Satan at the airport before his first game as a Sabre. I kid you not, I met him in the bathroom right after he was traded, and we were on the same flight headed for Florida. He was very nice, and seemed very excited. He became my favorite Sabre until he was trade.

I've met Rob Ray way too many times to count.

I met Tyler Myers about a month ago when he was doing a signing at Dave and Adam's Card World on Sheridan. He is so God damn tall! Grabbed a signed jersey, and told him to play well the next night, and I'm almost positive he picked up an assist.

Donald Audette was a speaker at one of my hockey awards banquets years ago when I played. That was really cool, and I got to talk to him.

I'm pretty sure that's it... for now.

I'm sure in another couple seasons, you'll be able to have Max actually pumping YOUR gas as well.

Pat Kaleta was doing a random signing at Relay for Life last year . . . when he denied breaking his wrist in a barfight.

I've met other Sabres at signings like when they used to have the Powerplay show on channel 13. Good times.

This is the best one. My mom knows a lady who works for the Sabres, I think she's head of the accounting department. Last year when I was sick, she was telling everybody about it, and this lady knows I like the Sabres, so she told my mom to give her my address and who my favorite player is, and she would see if she could get me something, no promises though!! (This happened on like a Saturday.)
Then the next Thursday I was having a bad day. I had to go see a doctor at Children's and honestly, we were there for four hours and I was probably in the office with the guy for 30 minutes. I was all bummed out for waiting so long for practically nothing and boo I don't want to be sick and do this all the time!! So when we got home, I got the mail. There was this big envelope, I figured it was just college stuff. But when I opened it, it was way better! It was a signed picture from Drew Stafford!!! "To: Laura - All My Best!!" He wrote my name on the picture! :D I was really touched and I cried.
Then two weeks later he was going to be signing stuff at the car show and I was like we have to go!!!! I had the picture set as the background of my phone, so when I got up to the front, I gave him my phone and was like, "Do you remember signing this for me?" And he did!!! He asked me how I was feeling and I said a lot better! Also I wanted him to sign my jersey and he asked me, "Is this your jersey?" I was like, yeah. . . (why wouldn't it be mine?) so he signed it and I think I said thank you and walked away. He signed my jersey with "To Laura, Glad you're better!" He remembered my name!! :D I think I cried a little here too.

The End.

i was friends with dominic hasek's son when i was in elementary school, he went to dodge. he came to my birthday party a couple times, but he was always a very quiet guy. i remember when i was about 7 i was ice skating at a rink and i cut my hand on my blade, and hasek came over to see if i was alright.

i was friends with craig munis son,... anyway craig muni was over at my house one evening talking about getting traded to the stars. he wasn't too happy about leaving buffalo. i actually just saw him at hsbc doing one of the 50/50 drawings, which was pretty funny.

there were quite a few sabres kids that went to dodge around 95-99.

Well I have had a few encounters with Sabres out here in Las Vegas. I had met Larry Playfair, Larry Quinn and Drew Stafford at the NHL award show last year and was able to talk to Playfair and Quinn for awhile. I also met Danny Gare at Wayne Gretzky Fantasy camp that took place a month or two ago. What a great guy Danny was.
Looking forward to the NHL award show this year because Myers and Miller will be there.

Cool story! It's funny how one of the pictures has both Paille and MacArthur in it...both of whom are now gone. Other thing I noticed is that Tim Connolly looks like a total badass and Kaleta is not at all ripped like I thought he'd be.

I also saw Lindaaayyyy in a clothing boutique on Elmwood during the winter. It was funny because a few months prior to seeing him I thought to myself that it was kind of odd that out of all the years of Lindy coaching for Buffalo, I had never seen him out and about, even though I see my fair share of players around.

That reminds me...I've also seen Lindy. I saw him outside of Clarence Middle School after football practice. This would have been like in 1999...maybe one of his kids went there...?
