Came home today in tears... Fuck that place. I'm quitting. All the managers ganged up on me when I confronted them and were trying to conceive me into this person that they know I'm not. All I wanted was to have a little extra time to myself so I could study for my exams and they are acting like I am trying to pull a fast one on them.

There was one manager who was trying to defend me and help me out...but next week is her last week because they're making her transfer because they think she plays favorites. When all she really does is try to work with her employees and accomodate them as much as she can. She was the only decent manager who seemed to care about her employees, whereas everyone else is just some 20-something kid on a fucking power trip.

I'm so upset that they all ganged up on me like that after being the type of employee I was for the past 2 years. I was a good employee and all I wanted was some extra time around finals to study. I deserve better than that, but it's just obvious that they don't care... It's a type of job where the employees are basically like cattle. Employees are constantly coming and going, and I thought they would recognize the fact that I was a hard worker for them for two years. Makes me wonder why I stayed there for so long.

:( I know EXACTLY what you mean with that place -- all Regals really are the same. I worked at mine for 3 years and was promoted to management at one time, and I still ended up walking off my shift when I quit. It always seems like the lifers are the ones bitter at people who are going to school. One of my closest friends is getting a job there as a manager (she worked with me at Transit). It's a small silver lining but if you do end up staying, she's at least sane and reasonable. Good luck with it :( :( :(

I worked as a Little League Umpire for three years. Once you get over how douchebaggy adults are willing to be in front of each other and their kids, it's one of the most entertaining jobs on the planet. The best is when the kids get fed up with their parents' stupidity and fight back.

Some highlights included:

One guy who would stand behind the backstop and give his kid pitch by pitch instructions. The kid was petrified and the dad was not helping. Fucking helicopter parents.

A coach complaining about balls and strikes and his son, the catcher yelling back at him to shut up and that the umpire (not me) was right.

Ejecting a coach. I understand things get heated and people want their kids to succeed and don't know how to react when they don't. So generally if a coach vents a little I don't really care, but this guy, known for being an asshole, did not know when to quit. So I warned him that if he continued to talk, he was putting himself at risk for ejection. He replied with some smart ass comment and I tossed him then and there. The fucker didn't want to leave the premises until some of the league board members started walking over haha.

I also worked as a camp counselor for a daycamp (weekdays 9am-2pm) for 6-14 year old kids for three years. Greatest job on the planet. Minimum wage (then around $6) sucks, but I was playing kickball all day so who really cares? The only problem is the boss was a miserable, unbearable cunt.

She was horribly sexist and rarely hired men. Me even getting the job was the product of a few people quitting last minute. She was strict and didn't cut the counselors any slack whatsoever. Luckily she only showed up to check on things once a day for like 10-15 minutes at a time. It didn't matter if you had just socked a home run in kickball and had just sprinted around the bases, if you were sitting, you got yelled at. If any kids acted up, they got yelled at, then you got yelled at. If you were trying TOO hard, you got yelled at. Just an awful woman, and my coworkers were a bunch of shitstains too. I saw it as an opportunity to be a mentor and a respectable authority figure for kids, not collect a paycheck in the laziest manner possible while talking shit about people and figuring out how to best get wasted either. There are still former campers and parents that I keep in touch with, and I've written a few of them letters of recommendation for classes, programs, colleges, etc.

I almost became an umpire but I never wanted to deal with this kind of bullshit.

A kid I went to high school with worked as a soccer referee in premier and house leagues for something like $50 an hour.

It was great when the refs in games he played made mistakes. He'd tell them how their calls were wrong, and he was always right. My senior year a ref cost them the championship, and as soon as he spoke up the referee just said, "I'm sorry; I was wrong," but didn't rescind the call... he was piiiiiiissed.

Not really a vent here but today I was not scheduled to work tonight but my colleges phones me today about working tonight and my mom answers the phone, then she s gives me the phone and I tell the person on the phone I just don't feel like coming in as I was never scheduled to work and then all was good. Then it urns out my mom over heard me saying I didn't feel like working she got pissed off at me saying I didn't want to work and goes on about how I am done school and you should be working if shifts open up  I told her basically that its not your job and I will worry about my life and she got more pissed off and she said you work part time and you should take shifts when they open up :x

Venting is usually a good time. Typically am very, uh, calm and composed, I guess, so when I vent it's like another person and everybody around me loves it.

I need to vent about Facebook once again.

I FUCKING HATE KISSY FACES. You look retarded when your scrunch up your face and do that stupid kissy face. Half the girls that do it are already hot but it just annoys the living shit out of me. Smile, your smile is beautiful, way better then a fucking kissy face.

So what would you guys do?

Should I go in tomorrow and just basically tell them to fuck off and say that I'm done and not coming back, or should I be "responsible" about it and put in my two weeks?

Always put in your two weeks. A bad reference from a former employer, no matter how shitty the job or insignificant the time there, can fuck up an opportunity.

Put it in, because if you absolutely need it, they will or can rehire you back.

I don't really care at this point...I've been such a good employee for them for 2 years and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. Plus there are so many people I work with who are lazy and half ass everything, and they've been there for as long as I have. So I figure I can do that for two more weeks. Besides, this is just a stupid part time job, it's not like it's a resume builder.

You misinterepted it, I said try and get fired in those two weeks, not do all you can do to be a good employee.

So basically do what you can do to try and get fired.
