as some of you know, i am a devout flint generals fan, a AA minor league hockey team. flint features former NHLers pascal rhaume (i keep calling him pascal leclaire when i yell out to him during games. embarrassing) and the coach is former NHL starting goaltender for the whalers, jason muzzatti (ryan millers best friend).. as well as bryan smolinski. in this article, he describes the parallels between the flint generals and the movie slap shot.

i hated smolinski when he was in ottawa, but i love him now. but this is a good read.

interesting post note: it appears the generals will fold as the NAHL (the top junior league in the USA. ryan miller and p. kane both played in this league, as well as ALOT of other NHLers) is coming to flint. the michigan warriors. super dumb.

I've thought highly of Smolinski's play for years, since he was a member of the Kings. He played quite well in a secondary role for Ottawa and the Islanders, and I feel like he played a season for the Habs too but God knows my memory isn't what it used to be. Ponit is the guy rocks IMO. I remember saying "Brian Smolinski is awesome" to my ex-girlfriend who was a huge hockey fan, and she laughed at me for it. She said, "Mario Lemieux is awesome, Brian Smolinski isn't awesome", or something to that effect. She just didn't get it.

hes a good guy, and ill always cherish i got to watch him for a season in an intimate setting.
