I had never heard of these cars before, but I saw one this evening. I just checked them out online. Apparently they are fully electric cars with lots of muscle.

The one drawback is their weight. The batteries do take away from the car's handling, but it is still an impressive performer.

They just partnered with watchmaker TAG Heuer.

I've heard of them before, but just to me, electric doesn't appeal to me.

As most of you guys know, I want a SR20DET powered 240sx.

Expensive. I believe it said $130K to own.
The other thing for me is interstate travel. With only 240 miles per charge, I would need three charges to get from here in NC back to Buffalo.
But don't get me wrong, it really sounds like this technology is improving.

I've been driving past their Santa Monica showroom for the last 3 years.
It's a Lotus with a battery.

They wasted a lot of R&D cash on the roadster transmission, but their goal is to market a sedan.

Old stuff really, go watch Top Gear from 2 years ago.
They weren't that impressed either.

First off, the SR20DET isn't that impressive; just about everyone with a 240 has done it (that's why I'm *NOT*....I'm saving up for an RB series, or I'm going to find a 350 to drop in it).


Anyways, as already stated, it's heavy. It's expensive. Doesn't have that great of a range. It's just a sexy electric. And it's old.

I would assume that with the new technologies in battery management that are always improving, it could squeeze out a few more miles per charge, but it's still gonna take 3 full juices to get to Buffalo (that's 24hrs of waiting for full charge, or 4 stops at 1/2 hr each to get to 80% charge (but only at certified quick-charge stations, every 190 miles or so...so plan your route carefully).

Kind of annoying since the draw to the Prius is the electric motor that doesn't use any gas for your low speed city driving.

I just glanced through and didn't notice that you'd have to drive less than 50 miles per day to achieve that. Still is impressive though.
