Uhhhhhhhh.

Buffalo =! New Jersey, Anaheim, or Atlanta.

That's embarrassing.

The tickets for Habs games are WICKED expensive. If they weren't, there'd be two more filled seats at this game

They'll sell out when everyone sees how talented they are this season.

It'll be sold out before the puck drops.

'Hockeytown' is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

Missing the playoffs for two years, combined with the economic issues of the last year, will make this sort of situation more commonplace leaguewide.

Umm, trying to knock on the loyal fanbase or what? Nevermind that we missed the playoffs two years in a row, the economic crisis, tickets to Habs-Sabres games are very expensive, and also considering Buffalo is one of the poorest cities in the country. Yet, the game will still sell out before the puck drops.

Not surprising, but it will sell out by gametime. It's probably single seats only that are available, and the perceived lack of availability (they're not marketing the game) makes people assume none are available.

Spoken like a typical Red Wing fan...

Listen, why piss and moan about the Sabres selling out in advance when you know the game WILL sell out before game time? Just stop it.

IIRC, Detroit had a lot of issues selling tickets not too many seasons ago...

detroit was never hockey town. the wings are a very distant fourth behind the tigers and lions, and wolverines. it was stupid for them to claim themselves to be hockeytown in the first place. shit, their first sell out of 07-08 was game one of the cup finals.

buffalo certainly has a great fanbase, but for the recognition it gets, and the praise it gets from everyone, its a disappointment to see the season opener, against a division rival, regardless of prices, not sell out very quickly.

had to believe it's not sold out after that flurry of activity by darcy in the off season

I'd have gone, but I don't want to spend half a bajillion dollars on tickets.

I don't understand what you're disappointed about...are you trying to say that the Sabres fanbase isn't as rabid and loyal as people claim? I don't know...living here and experiencing it first hand on a day-to-day basis, there's no question that Buffalonians live and die with their sports teams. All because there's some upper-level seats left before puck drop shouldn't diminish the loyality that Sabres fans pour into their team year in and year out. I don't really get the point that you're trying to make.

Sabres2Sabres also made a good point...I don't think the Sabres did a very good job marketing the availability of tickets. A lot of people assume Sabres games are sold out, and the only advertising I've really seen for tonight's game is a little blurb on a write up or something saying, "There's still seats available for the home opener." or something like that.

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it's really starting to look to me like you're shitting on my town. And I don't appreciate it.
