I played from grade school all the way into my first two years of college. I've helped as a goalie coach for my little brother's high school team. I've lost a lot of interest in the sport over the past few years. It has become a real douchey sport overrun by "Lax Bros".

The high school that I used to play for now has two coaches that are real douchebags, and both caused my little brother to quit. One is in his late 20's (actually is/was on the practice squad for some NLL teams) and works as a substitute teacher. He hits on other teachers and students all the time and is a real scumbag. I used to have a ton of fun playing it, but the people that play now really sucked the fun out of the sport for me.

Just my two cents.

Here's my take on the college lax thing: I watch box lacrosse exclusively. I hate field lacrosse and the entire culture surrounding it. Just like you said, it's an entirety of "lax brahs", snobby entitled douchebag chumps from suburbia who went to dickbag prep school. Whereas in box lacrosse, it's mostly Canadian kids who play lacrosse in the summer (in Canada, box lacrosse is played in the summer - they don't have field lacrosse) because hockey is a winter sport.

Problem is, more and more American college-trained players are getting drafted into the NLL, and that lax brah culture is slowly seeping in, too.

I can't fucking stand lax brahs.

That is largely how my high school was, and also largely why I grew up hating lacrosse. Plus in my high school, the lacrosse players were all the kids that never panned out as baseball players so there was some extra animosity.

My high school (Niagara Wheatfield) is right across the street from a reservation.

Our field lax teams were almost all natives, and would beat the pulp out of the 'lax brahs' from OP EVERY TIME they played them. We looked forward to that every year.

Our teams had BAD reputations. Most of the other schools around us wouldn't start lax teams because they were scared.

I've met about a grand total of one person who plays field lacrosse that isn't a big enough douche to eclipse the sun

Well the main reason I pull for SU Lax is b/c of my friend Mike. I got him into the Sabres so its kind of a favor to him. I mainly go to the NCAA Lax final four to get wasted and watch the games. I don't really follow the team but I pay attention and shit.

Both Darris (NLL HOF'er as player and now winningest regular season coach in league history) and Richie (longtime captain and one of two players to be on every Bandit team to win the title) are going in to the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.
