This list is pretty great. Louis C.K., 90's Denis Leary, coke-addled Robin Williams, and Bill Hicks are among the awesome inclusions.

I don't know how they can have both Bill Hicks and Dennis Leary on this list

I love Bill Hicks. One of my favorite stand-ups ever.

Dennis Leary just kind of lifted his image and stole entire portions of his act. Or maybe Bill Hicks just stole Leary's jokes but masqueraded them with punchlines and humor then to really throw everyone off, he told the jokes before Leary did.

I agree with you, Pat, about Mitch Hedberg not being on that list, but whatever. It's some dude website's list. Mitch Hedberg is definitely my favorite stand-up comedian.

And regarding Denis Leary and Bill Hicks, to me, it's like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols. People are going to forever argue who came first, but I dig both of em. (Even though, technically, the Ramones DID come first).

I like Robin Williams a lot. I've found myself liking improv more and more.

It's always different, and it almost always descends into the utter ridiculous.

So I guess my favorite funnymen are George Carlin, Drew Carey, Conan O'brien, Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Brad Sherwood.

Wow, people actually like mitch hedberg? Really?

Once i hear someone start in with that stereotypical stoner voice, anything they say is lost to me, that shit is obnoxious.

Dude, that was his natural cadence.

I have a friend in the comedy business (talent agent and booker) and she's told me many stories about how Robin Williams is a complete hack.
His resurgence in stand-up has been based almost entirely on other peoples jokes.
He's been known to go to comedy clubs and if he hears material he likes, he'll pay the comedian for the rights to it and have them sign a contract saying they can never tell the joke again.

He's got a lot of enemies in the comedy biz.

He still makes me laugh, just thought I'd put out some "inside information" ;)

At least he pays people for it, unlike Ned Mencia.

True, it's just seen by insiders as hurting the careers of actual talented (yet mostly unknown) comedians because they need to make a quick buck.

I've not read his autobiography or anything...but that seems pretty unlikely. I've never heard anyone talk like that in real life, the only time I hear it is when someone is trying to imitate a pothead. Although if you're saying it, you're probably sure of it, so what the fuck do I know, I just couldnt ever get past it. Kind of like bobcat goldthwaite (sp?)

and you're saying 'was'...did he die?

If you were involved in that industry, that is a fairly compelling argument.

He died in 2005 from a drug overdose. So, like I said, that was kind of his natural cadence - he wasn't impersonating a pothead...he really was one. (although, in the spirit of full disclosure, his death was due to cocaine and heroin overdose) (second edit, but obviously I wasn't trying to imply you can OD from smoking too much pot...I mean, all you'll do is just smoke yourself sober hah)
