So, there is a thread in politics about sentencing for pedophiles, and I wanted to change the topic slightly and open it up to more people here in the forum if possible.

Among the 'lets put them all on an island and bomb them to hell' comments (Um, I said that) there were some more rational reflections that their sexual...preference, wasnt a choice, and that they were born that way.

Other people said it was just their responsibility to not act on their impulses.

I've had this sort of oxymoron bouncing around my head a bit since then. If indeed these people are BORN like this, and I have to think they are. Who would really CHOOSE to be like that? So, if they actually are born like like this...then it's sort of not their fault. Of course it IS their responsibility to not act on their impulses and fuck kids, but clearly they do what they want, they kidnap, molest, rape, kill, torture, etc. They PREY on the children of society, causing unimaginable scars on the psyche of the next generation just to get their fucking rocks off.
(takes some calming breaths...)


So...we're faced with a startling dilemma, we have a segment of the society who just by being BORN, will be incompatible with what the vast majority wants. I know there are other categories that fit that description, I suppose some sociopaths are just destined to not fit in, but I tend to lean more towards the nurture side of the nature/nurture argument.
So it can probably be said that pedophiles are a uniquely unfit genetic sector of the population.

Biologically...this actually seems normal. Genetic variation throws out some absurd traits through the path of evolution, and I can reconcile it like that pretty easily on a scientific tip.

Socially, mentally, is much harder. They are PEOPLE, after all. They have hopes and dreams and we share a LOT with these people outside of the fact that their sexual proclivities are seriously fucked up when judged by a rational persons social boundaries.

So is their mental fucked-upness bound to negate their entire life in society?
Is it totally irrational to, when identified, force them to have surgery removing their cock/balls/one or the other, so they will lack both the source of testosterone and the tool to do anything about their impulses. That seems pretty radical, but clearly therapy doesnt work.

As a future registered sex offender I feel that the current system works well. Serve 5 to 7 on a 15 year sentence, meanwhile honing my skills to become reemployed once thet release me, and allow me to scope out jobs near schools, and chuckie cheese...

The ONLY 2 problems I have with this are as follows:

1) Wrongfully convicted. God knows we have shit tons of people in this category for all types of crimes. Do we give all non admitting pedophiles 2 trials, or how do we ensure the convicted is ACTUALLY the proper person? I only say this because the wrongfully jailed end up making a shit ton over time.

2) Where do we draw the line at pedophilia? Is is just the 74 year old guy and the 6 year old? Or is it also the 20 year old and the 16 year old? Also does it still count as a crime if he is 25 and she is 16 but in the bar on a fake ID and claims 21, but admits the truth when she gets knocked up?

That's a great point. Luckily I haven't ended up with the 17 year old that got in on a fake ID but shit happens man. I mean how many times have you seen some smoking hot chick in a bar or a club and find out later that contrary to looking like a stacked 21 year old she was actually 17? Or what about the kid who turns 18 and gets nabbed boning his 17 year old girlfriend he's been with for four years? Obviously anyone who's abusing a child should be fucking hung by their balls but there is way too much grey area right now. What about these kids now getting nabbed for sending naked text messages? 17 year old takes a shot of themselves, sends it to their girlfriend/boyfriend and get's busted for child porn.
