First - illegals aren't just Mexican. Granted, that's the majority of the population (of immigrants), but it's not just the Mexican immigrants. They're just the most prevalent.
Second - I agree with you XC, on legalizing pot. Not because I'm a pothead, to be honest, I've never smoked pot in my life, and probably couldn't tell you if a room smelled like it.
Increasing minimum wage would only make hiring illegals more lucrative. But instead of them picking your beans, you're going to have them as your cashiers, waiters, and waitresses.
And yes, it costs 40-50k/year to jail somebody. That's why I don't quite understand why inmates sit on death row for tens of years, why life sentences are handed out, OR why CONSECUTIVE life sentences are handed out. IMHO, it's either death penalty OR life sentence. Can't have both. To me, it's a double standard.
Right but what I failed to include was that WE would not be paying for their jail time, Mexico pays for it and also pays to pick them up again. Then, it's up to that illegal immigrant to pay back Mexico however they see fit. In other words, their citizens are also THEIR responsibility. And that goes for every countries illegals. I'm not suggesting something so harsh as being shot or life in prison like other countries willingly do to Americans.
Again, GO AFTER THE POEPLE HIRING THEM. Sorry for the caps, but it's like I'm taking crazy pills because nobody seems to want to even acknowledge this as the main problem. If there isn't anybody hiring them, then they wont come here, maybe they will try Canada or some other country that wants cheap labor. Verizon literally built their entire FiOS system with illegal immigrants every step of the way. I know, I work for Comcast and they cut our feeds all the time, call me a racist but you can tell by the fact that they don't speak a word of English that they aren't registered citizens.
If you stop allowing people to hire illegal immigrants under the table, by creating a hot line for any citizen to use to rat them out among other tactics. ENFORCE IT. And then, make it more enticing for Americans to take those jobs, by eliminating free money and making the minimum wage respectable they will take it.
And hey, if a Mexican citizen wants to apply to a temporary work permit that puts them on the books and allows the US to tax them then FINE! Hire them! They are some of the hardest working people in the world! The "lazy" label is a fucking myth! They bust their humps, way harder then any American getting paid the same or even more would. But that's too bad, force business to hire Americans or else.
Don't tell me Verizon can't afford to pay people legit? And restaurant owners will just have to go with the smaller in ground pool without the gold trim this year. It isn't going to break their business.
