I'd take either, but my gut just says that they aren't as special apart as they are together. They're like Pat LaFontaine and Alexander Mogilny to me.

I remember seeing it live and my mom asked me what did he just say? Jonathan "Fucking" Towes

Also the look on his face after he said it was fucking priceless

I dunno Phil. Toews was Canada's best player throughout the Olympics and now he's leading Chicago in the playoffs. If they were both in the same draft I'd take Toews over Kane.

Toews vs. Kane?

Let's keep it simple:

Toews has about a-point-a-game through the playoffs
Toews is much taller
Toews found the missing puck
Toews never robbed a cabbie

I'd go with Toews.

Nice

I hope he says it when he wins the Stanley Cup this year.

I was doing a review of Chicago's cap situation for next season, and it's absurd. They're already on the hook for $57.56M already, and that's with the following players either RFA or UFA.

RFA:
Ladd
Eager
Fraser
Hjalmarsson
Hendry
Niemi

UFA:
Madden
Burish
Johnsson
Boynton

The way I see it, they HAVE TO trade off a couple of contracts (Kane or Toews? Toews or Kane? Byfuglien? Huet somehow?) in order to think about signing Niemi and fielding a full roster next season. I hope the younger Bowman is up to the challenge.

Phil, sometimes I think people look at other teams cap problems as possible additions to their team. I'm not claiming that's what you are doing, but I think people feel this way often. If the Hawks just let the FA's walk, then the RFA's will be easy. Their only options are sit out or get arbitration. Niemi nor Ladd will get ridiculous amounts there, because they aren't proven. Make one or two cap friendly moves in the off-season, and I see them returning VERY strong next year. Tallon was NOT the fucking retard most people think he was.

Niemi is not going to get a bunch of money there? He's tied with Byfuglien for reason number one the Sharks got eliminated. He's setting himself up for a BIG pay day, especially if he becomes the Stanley Cup-winning goalie.

Its Chicago's all in year simple as that. Unless they find a way for trading Huet or Campbell theres absolutely no chance they'll be back as good as this year. Hawks will still be good but not as dominant as this year.

I beg to differ. They have some pretty descent prospects down in the AHL that are definitely ready to be up in the NHL next year

I wouldn't take Soupy back, I honestly wouldn't take anyone back that we left go, especially at the prices they are signed to now.

Heck the only one who seems to be just as he was right now when he was with us is Briere, that feisty son of a bitch is rippin it up, and really hustling.

We could use another guy like him, but the rest can go suck on their huge contracts right now. Briere wanted to stay.

Yeah... not a chance.

People complain that Vanek's being paid too much, guess who has the exact same cap hit?

Campbell.

He's a good defenseman, but not at that price. He won the frigging lottery with that contract.

Wow, there's a first time for everything!

I agree with you

Even with Skille tossed into the mix it's a bad idea in my view.

If Skille turns out to be as good as he's been touted to be, having Campbell's albatross of a contract on the books still hurts you because you don't have the space to pay Skille.

I'm just not a particular fan of taking on a shit contract just to get a good prospect with it. Prospects can be too hit or miss to screw yourself financially for that length of time.

Haha, awesome. Just seeing how he is still playing I miss him, and he is a guy our team needs again.

Agreed but they still need to develop them with passion. Niemi will be looking for a huge raise if they win Lord Stanley. If they manage to get rid of Huet they'll be fine.
