As long a Hecht, Talinder and Roy don't get A's I will be happy.

The A's don't mean anything to me at least.

Goose and Grier will each have an A, but one will be home and the other away.

The other two, I have no clue.

It's just speculation, but I would put money on me being right.

I agree that there should be one C and two As, but the As don't really have that much of a formal role unless Rivet get's injured or ejected. As far as leadership goes, the letters really shouldn't matter much, because these guys need to prepare the right way without somebody over their shoulder. I know every team has a few that always need it, but if this team as a whole still needs it after all the issues that have been addressed, they're not going anywhere no matter who wears a C or an A.

FWIW, I'll say Rivet wears the 'C' (obviously), and Gaustad, Grier, Connolly, and Pominville wear the 'A'.

To be honest, the alternates don't mean shit anyways.

If the captain is playing, then he is responsible basically.

Umm, didn't Craig have the "C" on Saturday?

To wear the "C" or the "A" is, or should be, a tribute to your play and your leadership, among your team mates.

Anyone who earns the letter, needs to have shown character.

Viewing the team letter as being inconsequential or trivial is a mistake.

That some teams may get "cute" with it and give it to a newly-drafted rookie, or some such nonsense, is considered very disrespectful by anyone who busts his butt every night, then gets mocked by such a coaching decision.

It SHOULD be taken seriously. It SHOULD reflect a level of committment or excellence. It SHOULD.

To treat it otherwise, is to reward mediocrity - To bestow honor upon laziness and indifference is to mock and trivialize honor.

Imagine making your worst player the highest-paid on the roster...what's the difference?

What kind of message is being sent to the rest of the team?

Every letter counts. It SHOULD.

Nobody is expecting some rookie or lazy player to wear an 'A', though. The practical on-ice effect of which responsible players wear the "A" is inconsequential as long as Rivet is healthy. The main responsibility of the 'A's off-ice will be to keep guys in check, handle in-house issues, make sure the team is prepared and not fucking off too bad on the road, etc...

What is more important to me is who has the C. A C on your jersey is more than just an A.

He is the real guy you want to be leading the team. People with an A is something you may look out for in the future, but right now, the C is what matters most.

um, not sure how many of you know this but the A's are the only ones who are allowed to talk to the ref when the captain isnt on the ice.

Oh yeah, what about when there aren't any letters on the ice? Nobody talks to the ref then? If an 'A' is on-ice he'll talk, but the 'C' is going to deal with any issues throughout the game. The 'A' still is going to matter on-ice, but not much in the big picture.

i guess tomorrow night we find out the two away captains. here's hoping hecht isn't one of them. i'm hoping for grier and connolly or heck vanek. Definitely do not want hecht, don't really want roy to have the A. really wouldn't mind if it was goose permanently with the A and then grier and pominville switch. But no hecht.
