Let them know that if they don't think they can do anything for you, that you're going to try to start a local news interest story, just to get the word out. Tell them you're concerned about neighbors' safety.

I do like pulling the "do you know how much we're paying you?" card. It's usually pretty effective, too.

She's being cool about it now. I old her the old "I know it's not your fault and I'm not mad at you personally" trick. She said she can refund one year...trying on more.

Yeah. I like telling reps that I'm going to put them on hold to conference in our sales rep. That usually scares the shit out of them,

I'm also on a first name basis with the (now) VP of Sales for a CLEC we do a lot of business with. I got him on a call once to get something done, and I've never heard so many 'YES SIR'S' in my LIFE. Apparently word about that got around REALLY fast; one of the techs I know there texted me while I was still on the phone. People were FLOORED that I had the balls to do that, and everyone there was scared to death of us now. I loved it.

We make CLECs a LOT of money with what we pay, plus the business we bring them. So, I can get them to do anything I want for the most part. (Short version : the phone company that TERMINATES a phone call gets paid by other phone companies to do it. All the traffic we generate is inbound, so companies make tons of money on our traffic, and don't have to pay out on it because we don't MAKE phone calls. )

Yea, I'm siding with J on this one. If the last time it was proven to be working was installation and you were never instructed to test it, then demanding a full refund isn't a pipe dream. If her supe is staunch and refuses that, go with two years and call it a day.

I was never instructed to. They say it's in the contract which I have to re-read to be sure but the tech told me that fail safes were in place if the signal was lost.
