Its Chicago's all in year simple as that. Unless they find a way for trading Huet or Campbell theres absolutely no chance they'll be back as good as this year. Hawks will still be good but not as dominant as this year.

I beg to differ. They have some pretty descent prospects down in the AHL that are definitely ready to be up in the NHL next year

Agreed but they still need to develop them with passion. Niemi will be looking for a huge raise if they win Lord Stanley. If they manage to get rid of Huet they'll be fine.

That's the key right there. Huet needs to go. Thankfully, there are a ton of teams who need starting goaltenders and I'm sure Stan Bowman can work a trade.

If Huet goes, the Blackhawks are in a MUCH better place.

There is no guarantee Niemi is gonna get a big pay day. Most of us on here believe those monster-gamble deals are a thing of the past, considering some of the awful goal-tending deals in recent memory(esp CHI). The guy is an RFA, bottom line. If he sits out a year, will someone still offer him the big deal the following year?? That's a huge gamble on his part. He "should" accept a 'reasonable' offer to remain on a team which can offer him a legacy, rather than one with cap space.

I know hindsight is 20/20...but seriously that Huet signing was so dumb.

When Montreal traded him to Washington I was like, "are they mad"?

Then when Washington failed to resign him I was also like, why would they not resign the best goalie they have, instead they sign Theodore?????

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
