I think you guys are waaaaaay too hard on Leighton.

First, are you forgetting that he was NOT their starting goaltender? That was Ray Emery, out with a hip injury.

Secondly, he faced 41 shots while Niemi only faced 24....and they ended up in OT!

Cut the guy some slack. He did okay.

i dont think its being to hard on a guy who wasnt suppose to be there in the first place. leighton was a third string goalie who got hot during the montreal series. most people were pretty high on him, saying he was this great goalie and that he was going to backstop philly to a cup.

the truth was that he played like he was suppose to, average at best. the wins in games 3 and 4 in the finals weren't really a product of his all-star goaltending as much as it was the flyers defense doing a damn fine job and only allowing long or bad angle shots, of which any goalie should be able to stop.

20 cent! 20 cent! I wonder if the cab driver was in the audience?

Also, how coincidental that it was Campbell who fed Kane the puck for the winning goal.

I'm not sure what the coincidence here is.

What I loved about last night: Kane scoring from Soupy, Big Buff skating around the Wachovia Center is with that big Blackhawks flag in his fingers, Kane giving the big ups to Buffalo, and Niemi becoming the first Finnish starting goalie to win the Cup (y'all know I love me some Finns. Also, suck it, Grapes!)

Well I have been saying this for sometime now that Philly is a good goalie away from being an excellent team and it showed last night that average goaltending can only get you so far. Leighton play great in the Boston and Montreal series but when facing a team that has many weapons like Chicago you can't afford to let in two soft goals. The one on Sharp and Kane's overtime winner were pathetic. His stick should have stopped Sharp's goal that went between his legs and I have no idea why he was down in that position for on a terrible angle shot from Kane. Both goals should have been routine saves.

Three soft goals - Sharp, Ladd, and Kane.

Anyone else notice that Kane's winner was identical to Crosby's gold medal winner past Miller?

In both situations the goalie was not expecting a shot from that angle and they both got burned for it.

I did...the only difference was distance out of the shooter.

So I didn't hear any post game from Chris Pronger. I hope he at least got his game puck.

I noticed this too. Very similar shots. Scored by two complete douche bags, and 99% of the time the puck doesn't go in.

Leighton's was much softer, Sid received a nice pass from Iginla and was all alone and had an option to shoot right away or dek or whatever else he could come up with. Miller looked like he got ready to reposition for a dek, possibly to the back hand. But Sid just snapped it and it found a crack.

Kane was kept in check down his lane the whole time, he had only one option, shoot. Leighton was STILL caught unprepared.

Like I said when the series started, I wanted to see the Cup presented to the Hawks while in Philly just to piss off those assholes. And boy, hearing them boo sure put a smile on my face. Those cock suckers :D

You know the media honestly should not be out there after they win, every guy that was interviewed by CBC just wanted it to be over just let them celebrate.

He did okay but it was only in three games against Montreal that he was really good. Leighton was pulled twice in the Cup final which resulted in the Flyers losing both those game then last night he lets in two really bad goals that of course resulted in the loss. Either way you look at it the Flyers need a goalie real badly next year.

Very similar but Crosby blew that puck by Miller, Kane's shot not so much
