are you serious? two of my friends have droids, one the new incredible. its so fast, its obscene. he pressed brower, put it espn.com, hit enter, boom. instantly. not 2 seconds later, i mean, he hit enter, and it was up. the iphone might be the best, for now, but everyone is saying how close it is. people around the industry.
the iphones great. the only apple product ill probably ever own. but other phones are catching up. thats for sure. i mean, its like, you can only do so many earth shattering things before, really, the only different between one version to the next is smaller things like.. running 2 apps at once, which really, most of us dont care. so, while they make minor changes, other phones can come running up, and catch up almost, till they too, plateau.
if i could get ANY phone, it would be the nexus one. but sadly, that phone hasnt sold well, and verizon dropped it from their network, which blows. and the nexus one supposedly exceeded the 3GS. guess ill never know.
android is a HELL of a platform though.
ESPN is running HTML 5... that's why.

Their browsers are very fast... faster than the iPhone 3GS. But as this battle continues to wage, and technologies get more and more complicated, the gap is going to grow-- not shrink --due to Apple's in house creation of software and hardware designed to work in unison.
Some people see it differently, and time will tell. But it's nice to have a company out there that cares more about the overall user experience rather than loading up a list of features to appeal to the mass general public.
When Apple implements things, they do it right.
