3 hrs of hockey later....

the game tonight was a-fucking-mazing. at our peak we had 16 people show for a pick up game. the people we know comprised of 10 of the 16 but thats still great. we ended up with 8 on 8. 6 skaters to a side, goalie and a sub. outside of the occasional water break we played non stop and everyone, friend and stranger alike, got along and played nice (you never know who might be a douche one night) and it was a fantastically great time.

me and my friend rocked it in goal, we were putting on a damn clinic. my dad played near shut down defense for my friend and my neighbor cleared anything away that i couldnt cover. my neighbors kid, my other friend and my brother were an offensive force, that was unfortunately coming at me. luckily that couldnt do tape to tape passes all that well. on the otherside my defense joined the rush nicely without leaving me out to dry.

the best part, the weather held out. it rained a bit in the early afternoon and was suppose to do so again tonight but nothing hit and the rink was able to dry. and at a nice 70degrees, playing goal wasnt torture.

it was easily one of the top 10 best games ive ever played in. everyone i have talked to feels like hell in a good way.

6 hours of hockey over the past two days, so I was super burnt last night. Then I decided to go to a party. Got drunk, vomited in the woods and lost my phone. Some girl snuck me into her house and had me crash on the couch until the morning. Went to bed at 2 AM and was home by seven. Wasn't hungover, but I think I was still a bit drunk. Fantastic.

Also some guy threatened to fight me because I looked in the general direction of his girlfriend. A) I should have fought him. B) I couldn't help it; the girl looked like a fucking meth addict.

This is exactly what is wrong with this city and explains why we never get anywhere.

Bingo. Goddamn old fucks need to step down and let younger visionaries into office, but this city is so full of itself all of us that want to believe in Buffalo are left broken.

Is it worth upgrading? I have Windows 7 but I wasn't sure if it was worth the time and effort to do the install. All your files and everything transferred too, right?

If you have Vista, you should be able to upgrade without reformatting. Seems to work for most people but I have a few friends who had issues with it and ended up doing a clean install.

To go from XP you need to do a clean install.

7 is a lot better than Vista. I still use XP, mainly, but have 7 installed as well and it's pretty nice.

the problem is people dont want to back something without PROOF its going to succeed. that and the miles and miles of red tape it takes to get stuff done is just a waste of time. its stupid how hard it is to get solid projects off the ground.

No, Mike, this is about whiny local government members complaining about a method to connect the inner and outer harbors because it would possibly obstruct the VIEW of a derrelict grain elevator. ASININE.

Yea it would be years. As in, wouldn't be done until 2015. But this is a risk the city NEEDS to take. Connecting downtown and both harbors is a necessity to reviving this rusted-out town. The bridge, or bridges, would bring the Skyway down and harmonize the waterfront. Fuck the grain elevators - only one set is still in use, so the others can be brought down and the rest already have been.

I am so sick and tired of this city's refusal to look toward the future without constantly coddling every minute detail of the past. I mean, look at this entry at Buffalo Rising. There's a fancy new plan for a medical office building proposed for Delaware and Virginia (I believe) that got a unanimous nay vote from the planning board because it doesn't mesh 100% with all the historic buildings on the block. Hey fuckfaces, it'd be at an intersection with no other historic buildings, so who gives a shit if it doesn't match the buildings down the block. It's this kind of stick-in-the-mud attitude that makes me lose hope in this city.

At least guys like Rocco Termini, who not only talks the talk but walks the walk as a downtown revivalist developer (he turned the old AM&A's building into luxury apartments that were all rented out save two units when the building opened, and now he's going to restore the historic Hotel Lafayette), restore that hope.

I hate archaeologists and historians. Where I used to work, we had so many jobs held up or made more complicated out of a need to match existing architecture, or to preserve some retarded piece of "history" (like a crumbling foundation).

The best part is, when we had the state as our client (a few park jobs), they don't give a flying fuck what happens and we can bypass several steps since its on their land and they just throw out all the red tape bullshit.

Well, just that one wall is ugly, but the greater point has been made. Fuck the Buffalo establishment.
