Probably because you're Pat fucking Green...

But I think it's partly because it's just so damn cool when random people with wildly different specialties / knowledge / professions get together for a completely unrelated reason and end up educating each other on various subjects.

I <3 me some intertubes.

All of the above. Plus what Cross said. Plus the fact that you're an environmentalist in the true sense of the word. I think the world could use a lot more people who really take the time to think about what's happening in the world around them.

ILLEGAL ILLEGAL ILLEGAL
like, so illegal, it's like dealing crack. i'm not sure if it's a trib to a major waterway or what the quality of water is classified as, but if it is a trib you can get in sooooo much shit for that. make sure you call the DEC and get permits...i have a feeling it's probably protected under trout laws.

It's pretty close to that, I'll have to check. Might be around 10'or so. It's a decent distance from the creek, maybe 120' or so, but it's in a spot that gets a decent amount of sun that I really don't have down by the water. Good amount of trees down there, lots of shade.

I didn't know that might be illegal , thanks for the warning. It's a creek that runs into the Niagara River near the Falls. I'm probably 2 miles or so creek distance from the river, and by my property it's about 15' wide and 2' deep. There's some ducks back there, but I've never seen any fish. I have to clean my section out regardless, there's a bunch of cinder blocks and concrete chunks laying about 5' off the bank that got dumped there, but I'll do some digging into the laws before I do that. Thanks for the heads up.
