Horrible mistake by Onyewu. Now I know why he didn't get any playing time on AC Milan's team.

2-1 , nicely done by Donovan. Handanovic was lucky he didn't hit his face, would have hurt like hell.

Okay, there's been a massive momentum shift. US looks to be in control now.

No kidding. That was a world class shot.

Looks like they're coming on pretty well here. Too bad that a draw might not be good enough.

Nah, you're thinking of the pizza chain Papa John's. Papa Jake's is a local Buffalo pub that shows the futbol games.

It's hard to watch these games as a hockey fan. Every play I keep thinking "Just put it on net, see if you can get a rebound."

I keep thinking "Stop with the long lead pass, it's gonna cause odd-man rushes."

They're not forechecking at all. They need to play some hard nosed footie if they wanna complete this comeback

It's a gamble, but they might want to pull the goalkeeper for an extra attacker. Force them to make a save and put a shot on net with a set play off the draw.

I gotta give Slovenia credit for not just sitting back and trapping it up. They're still coming after it hard.

Howard's trying to push the pace too, I like that.

The ref in the Germany match went off on a crazy tirade issuing cards left and right over normal fouls in the 1st half. Finally red carded (double yellow - both weak) Germany's best striker (Klose), and put them down a man for about 60 minutes. A valiant effort fell short in the 2nd half, but semi-self inflicted with a poor penalty kick effort by Podolski. The bright side is that Germany may be able to advance as a 2nd seed, and avoid USA if they even make it.

USA is just awful defensively. They continue to offer up great chances on a silver platter. Nice goal from Donovan, but otherwise my big double dose of WC action today with Germany and USA is looking pretty sad. Looks like for something good to happen today, I'm going to have to go outside and work on the house.

I think I'm most impressed with the fact that there's enough people there to get a USA chant in over the horns.

I like that.
