Well, if the problem is overpopulation, then the US isn't really a source of the problem.

The *real problem is consumption ;)

Just remember... consumption and population go hand in hand.

We like to live a particular way, so we're trying to find energy alternatives that make our life styles sustainable.

Problem is, there's absolutely no way to live the way we are AND have it be sustainable.

That leaves us with two solutions. Change our lifestyle, or change the amount of us living it.

Me thinks the general consensus, once we as a species get our heads out of our asses, will be the latter.

One natural disaster that prevents our 18 wheelers from reaching our grocery stores will fuck us up.

Sacrificial lamb. Nice to see, but I wonder how much it really changes in the company.

EDIT: Actually..was he fired, or just relieved of duties relating to the spill? That's how I read it.

Looks to me like he isn't handling this disaster anymore, but that's it.

Well he consistently came across as the most out of touch, clueless guy in the room, so it can't be bad.

I don't think so; he was doing what the lawyers told him to, no more, no less. If you expected anything more out of him, you're an idiot (not directed at you, XC, just a generalization).

Not to say it wasn't infuriating to hear the BS answers he gave, but you've got to see the angle he's stuck with working from. It's his company's fault, but not his. It's too bad the guy that gave the order to use saltwater died in the blast - then we'd all have someone to REALLY point the finger at.

Amazing what dumbass politicans are willing to say just because most of their fundings are coming from the oil industry.

We can all relax...Troy Aikman and Drew Bledsoe have a solution to clean up the oil.

http://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/arts-cultu ... -oil-spill
Quote:
Unlike Kevin Costner's centrifuges, Ecosphere's "Ozonix" machines use "ultrasonic transducers and acoustic cavitation to create millions of microbubbles that rapidly transport the oil to the water’s surface in a focused containment zone for non-chemical separation."

I saw a comment today about stopping the spill.

"Put a wedding ring on that pipe. It'll stop putting out in 2 weeks."

nice, they bumped the containment well, the one that collected 700,000 gallons of the oil. the cap had to be taken off, so none is getting caught, i think.

Suppose you get (booze)drunk, then go ruin a bridge, or a guard rail. Guess what? You'll be paying for the repairs, or your ass will go to jail(oh ya, your ass will be going to jail anyways;DWI).

fast-forward... Corporate America 2010

If you get (money)drunk, and send incomprehensible amounts of deadly, destructive material all over the planet, you will be required to pay a small amount of your profits to pretend you cleaned up any more than 3% of your mess.

Justice is lost, justice is raped, justice is done...

-"I want my life back"

So do all the fishermen, birds, and all of the ecosystem your greed raped(and they did go in drilling with their cocks out). Go enjoy a rigatta you fuck, because this guy made the ultimate PR mistake of admitting how he felt.

Consumption and population go hand in hand....to a point. It's all about carrying capacity of the land and how a society views it's place in that environment. Unfortunately it's all about luxury to a fault in most cultures and not only are we willing to work much more than we need to have those luxuries, that lifestyle compounds the demands on the local environment. Many societies throughout the world are densely populated (relative to their surrounding wild environment) and have sustainable cultural practices. It's all about the conscience view of being good stewards. Finding a balance between what the land can withstand and how many comforts we "need" is going to have to be dealt with some time soon.
