Called it - the Blues are letting Mason walk and will try to move forward with Halak as starter and and Conklin as backup.

What a fucking stupid trade, Montreal got nothing for Halak. This looks very similar when JFJ was running the Leafs and he traded Rask for basically nothing.

Same for me, I hate the Habs but I kinda like Halak. Now I'll be able to cheer for him properly :)

Wow, that's all I can say how stupid can Montreal really be? They trade a goalie who the team had confidence in over Price. Well that's good for Buffalo because I thought Halak is a great goalie at least better than Price.

I feel bad for Carey Price.

There's no reason to feel bad for Carey Price.

I'm wondering when exactly the Canadiens front office is going to realize that Carey Price is not their organization's savior

Never. In fact, the Habs did not speak once to Halak's agent after the season ended.

Look at Halak's age and Price's ages.

Halak is 25 right now and had 3 years of AHL experience and around 22 games of NHL experience before being called up full time.

Price is 22, and had 12 games in the AHL, and was then trusted to be a NHL starter.

Both goalies were drafted the exact same year. And who is the better goalie right now? The one who had time to develop his skills and is older.

I believe Carey Price is a great goalie, will he get better in a few years? I think so, he was rushed to be a starter at 19 years old and Halak wasn't.

That's just my reasoning behind this right now.

I forgot his sending down two years ago before the Huet Trade.

Thanks Phil.

Although re-assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs midway through the season in January, he was called back up shortly over a month later. Then, with the trade of starting goaltender Cristobal Huet to the Washington Capitals before the trading deadline, Price assumed the starting role.
