Brian Compton has very good points in both the Calder and Vezina, as he both considers Miller and Myers to win their trophies, but he states about The Sabres scored 1 fewer goal than Philly, yet finished 12 points ahead of them in the standings also, because of Miller's stellar play.

But he also brings up Myers had 182 less shots than Tavares, and 176 less than Duchene and still only had 7 fewer points than Duchene.

Also that Myers was a +13 playing against oppositions top forwards and logging an average of 23:44 minutes a night.

Dan Rosen mentioned about Duchene winning it in that article and it says what we've all been saying, except Mike, about Howard, "No offense to Howard, who had a solid season with the Red Wings, but he's 26 years old and had four pro seasons in the AHL already on his resume. Howard is a nice story, but not -- by the truest definition of the word -- a rookie."

Just thought of something - does ANYONE think Duchene even has a chance to win? Seems to me like he's just there to fill out the third slot.

He did lead the league in Rookie Scoring, was third in points and second in goals on his team, he did help the Avs not finish in 29th place also.

He was a very important part of the Avs this year, but he has no chance to win the Calder, but most of the time you either have one or two names fighting for the Calder anyways.

Jimmy Howard put up impressive numbers. There is no denying that. But Lidstrom and Rafalski still played 82 and 78 games respectively. They also had Datsyuk playing 80 games who is the best defensive forward in the game. While Howard did have to play well and steal some games for DET to stay alive there is no question that the team around him is way better than the team around Myers.
Remember last year when Doughty was all the rage? Well Myers almost doubled his output. They've already engraved his name into the trophy. The guys out east will all vote Myers. The majority of the guys in the west will vote Howard but some kooks will vote for Duchene.

That should be taken into account that Howard had better players in front of him then say...Steve Mason

Howard played 132 games at the AHL/NHL level before this season.

Myers played 0 before this season.

It goes to Myers.

i dont agree with it, but as you can see from some number crunching, the red wings actually play worse in front of howard.

im sure myers will get it, but my vote for calder went to howards.
