..is still going on as of 9PM GMT at Wimbledom. John Isner and Nicholas Mahut. They are currently at 58-59 in the 5th set (no tie-breaker in the 5th set). This is truly incredible. The 5th set alone has lasted 7 hours!

The match has now been suspended due to darkness (for the 2nd time), and will resume tomorrow at 59-59 in the 5th.

That's some serious stamina for guys that usually play a fairly short game.

Well, in the grand slam events, with best of 5 sets, matches regularly exceed three hours. Not sure I would call that short. But this is just another matter altogether.

damn. That's fairly epic, even for tennis.

I was watching the games before they ended last night...and these guys looked freaking exhausted. I almost expected to see them sitting in chairs, slowly batting the ball back and forth.

I hate tennis, but damn does it take a ton of athleticism and stamina to be able to play that sport for that long....

Well, it finally ended. American (USA! USA!) John Isner won the 5th set 70-68! If anyone likes to bet tennis, I think there's a good chance Isner will lose his next match. But what an effort by both guys.

Nadal is in a 2nd round battle now. He and Haase split the first two sets and Nadal is down a break in the third.
