Chicago politics are catching up with our "hen pecked" president

Quote:
"The president understands that the governor would be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he's asked for. . . . The governor gets the Cabinet appointment he's asked for," Harris said, explaining a recorded call.

Harris said Blagojevich came away believing Obama knew what he wanted after having a conversation with a local union representative, who in turn spoke with labor leader Tom Balanoff, with whom Blagojevich met to discuss a Jarrett appointment. Jarrett, now a White House adviser, was seeking the appointment to Obama's Senate seat.

Rham Emanuel delivered the short list, from Obama to Blago, of the people Obama wanted appointed to his old Senate seat.
Quote:
In the call, Blagojevich's chief of staff, John Harris, tells his boss that Rahm Emanuel, Obama's soon-to-be top aide, had called him to give him a list of four people that Obama would find acceptable as his successor in the Senate. They were Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.; injured Iraq War vet Tammy Duckworth; U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky and Illinois State Comptroller Dan Hynes.

Ahh collusion, conspiracy and extortion....gotta love it.

These so called 'Chicago politics' don't appear to be any different than the politics that go on in New York.

All this quid pro quo stuff happens all the time, all over the country, no matter what party you're dealing with.

Maybe, but it usually doesn't involve a sitting president, some of his cabinet members and his chief of staff.

I wouldn't be too dismissive of the developments of this case.

Nixon didn't wiretap anybody...but he knew people who did.

I'm not dismissive of it, just wondering how egregious the events, including Blago's involvement, really were.

Well, seeing he's charged with 16 felonies I'm going to go ahead and assume he was involved.

That's fair.

To be honest, I haven't paid much attention to all of it. I probably should.
