What Is the FCC’s Responsibility

The FCC is barred by law from trying to prevent the broadcast of any point of view. The Communications Act prohibits the FCC from censoring broadcast material, in most cases, and from making any regulation that would interfere with freedom of speech. Expressions of views that do not involve a “clear and present danger of serious substantive evil” come under the protection of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. The FCC cannot suppress such expressions. You guys need to relax. The reason that this forum is separate is so that these often contentious discussions can stay here and stay contained.

If you don't like that XC and DF are going back and forth, don't get in the middle of it. There's no reason to lock this thread.

Although why the arguing is going on anyways is beyond me, clearly we all pretty much know where everyone stands, NO ONE changes their mind, concedes a point, or even seems to consider other people's posts.

I take issue with a lot of what Cross says and how he argues, but neither of us is calling each other's mom a whore or anything. I mean it's a debate. I would prefer the political thread to be thrown in the bin but since admin thinks it's a good idea to keep it then I'll be here. Unless someone starts hitting below the belt or some admin person makes the decision to keep politics off of Sabres Junkie I see no reason to shut this thread.
