Not a signing, but I figure I would mention that, as per Darren Dreger, Bill Guerin says he would love to stay in Pittsburgh but he would play somewhere else too. This might make things a wee bit more interesting.

The point is the mods want EVERY trade and signing in there to prevent me (or anyone else) from flooding NHL Talk with a new thread for every pick-up or deal.

Gotcha, we need squanto to merge this talk in there.

Plus with Versteeg gone, Chicago may finally put Jack Skille in the NHL.

I think Toronto won it handily. They acquired a top six forward without touching their own legit top six or top prospects. They gave up prospects, sure, but Burke has shown an ability to quickly acquire depth and it won't be a problem for them for long.

Toronto might have won it now but they are so tied up in money now they have to be over the cap with him now. I don't think Burke likes draft pick/prospects he always gets rid of them. Also I heard Burke wants to be really active tomorrow but with this trade I can't see them doing anymore but who knows.

Toronto actually is in good shape. They've got $6M to fill two more roster spots at forward. They've already got both goaltenders and seven defensemen locked in, so they'd even be able to send out a d-man (Kaberle) to clear space or bring in pieces to fill out the roster.

Just read on HF boards that Burke is going to make a "small" offer to Kovalchuck

Yea, he's refusing to go overboard. Some people speculate $7M.

I heard on Fan590 out of Toronto yesterday and Burke said he'd only go at 6millon any FA.

I think the trade is fair for both teams. Chi sheds some salary and get some good young players in return. Toronto improves its top 6 immediately and picks up a prospect. Chicago has a couple of options to fill in their holes. Both Skille and Beach are NHL ready.
You know Burkie will turn TO into a good team but he will leave them with nothing left, just like he did with Ana.

Yeah they will, versteeg is good but will not make a difference. Chicago stole those three pretty good prospects.

Also, the coaches in Chicago will get alot more out of those prospects then Toronto ever will.
