Their numbers are similar. Anton has more blocked shots and hits, but it's not worth the 2 - 3 million more he'll make than Lydman.

And Volchenkov has worse offensive numbers and I believe is a career minus in the playoffs. A $4M defenseman he is not.

Do you guys watch Volchinkov play? My brother in law loves him and the Sens, and we watch their games. He will do ANYTHING to hit someone, block a shot, or make a good defensive play. One thing that doesn't go on stats is how many times you stop someone from scoring as a D man.

Yeah, Volchinkov has maybe 27 more blocked shots (In less games than Lydman) and 35 more hits (In less games than Lydman), which is similar, but the play OUTSIDE his stats as a D man, is incredible.
