Displaced, I come from the angle that we don't know all the details, so it's almost impossible to make a confident judgement about free agency offers/non-offers. You and others want so badly to hang someone, that you'll assume it's all about Darcy just so you have someone to point a finger at.

The best way to judge a GM is by trades, because everything is apparent in that process. We see what each team wanted or were willing to accept in a trade, and then we see the results a few years later. Darcy done a pretty good job over the years with trades. In free agency, we never know what the player's thoughts were, or what management was willing to offer anybody unless it actually happens. Regier isn't the one that all of a sudden made Buffalo unattractive for big name UFAs. Regier didn't make the Sabres profit margin incapable of taking on more than a few big time contracts - it's been that way forever.

I can guarantee that no matter who the Sabres GM is, he'll get the same people complaining with the same thing every year. It's not all about Regier...it just isn't.
