At this point I want all Sabres fans to divide into two camps - those that want him to act completely unlike himself and more like Bob Gainey, and those that are being patient because we just came off the team's fifth division title and third 100-point season in club fucking history.

I'm in the first club. While what he does is good enough to look good, it's not "getting it done". There comes a point in time where you have to go "all in". Yeah, in a year or two the timing for "all in" might be better, but then what's to say that at that point, we shouldn't wait another year or two.

Miller's not getting younger, Enroth ain't the answer, Myers, Ennis, Gerbe, and Kennedy still have that young'n drive and energy. Vanek works his ass off, Connolly is going into a contract year (right?), Kaleta is going to keep killdozering, and god forbid we bring Kassian up. Roy (as a person) pisses me off to no end, but like the little engine that could, he DOES produce. We're missing SOMETHING; that one piece that will get this group together.

Remember "never two in a row"? Yeah, it took 4 months for that team to actually lose 2 in a row, and it only happened 2 or 3 times that season. We need the catalyst to get them back in that mentality.

I don't know who that guy is, or if it will be just one player, but I know that the move needs to be made. Status quo gets us another 1st round 10-15 pick; if we go all in, maybe we win a cup, or maybe we show our asses. Neither of them are BAD options; eating shit a whole season puts us in good draft position, something we haven't had in, I don't know, forever?

Dude, you suggest Darcy make one or two moves, either via FA or a trade, to bring back the winning mentality? You think it might be a better idea in a couple of years to go all in? You're putting yourself in the wrong camp, boyo! ;)

Darcy got Leopold, which was one of the guys we probably could have gotten. There are all ready a lot of forwards left. Hopefully it's not like last year where we pick up a decent D man then just say screw it.

Darcy said last night he's going to be chasing down forwards today and (interpreting his words here) that Weber and or Gragnani will get a chance to earn their roster spot. He also said if it comes to it, he's shaking up the roster with a trade.

This is a very different Darcy than last off-seasons Darcy, in that he's not hosting live chats online during FA - he's working his ass off. Negative fans, remember that players more often than not choose not to play here.

No, I'm saying it always seems like it might be a better idea in a couple of years.

At this point, it truly is.

If Goli would buy-out Quinn and fire him, every year might be a good year.

He could sell the team, but he refuses to sell it to anyone who will move the team. He might not be the best owner, but without him, we wouldn't have a team. Be fucking grateful.

Or maybe he doesn't want to sell it??? Just because he doesn't want to sell it doesn't mean he wants it to remain in Buffalo.

Head out of your ass a moment, would ya? In December of 08, Goli came out to the public and said that Jim Balsillie approached him with a VERY attractive purchase sum for the Sabres but he refused to sell it because Balsillie wouldn't guarantee that the Sabres would forever stay in Buffalo under his ownership. Golisano has said multiple times that he will never sell the team to an owner who will move it out of the Queen City, but he's also admitted it's been on the market for a couple of years.

So he's trying to save money by doing that. Therefore, this team probably has their own in-house cap to spend to. I don't doubt that we might sign another free agent or two, but that might take a few days, weeks maybe. Remember, Grier signed in like August last year so I don't really have ants in my pants about it.

Somebody said it best in the Buffalo News today. For all of you whining about this deal, you make it sound like we're the Bills, when in reality, we're a team that can still be viable when building from within.

How does that explain the fact that they've been within $2M of the cap for the last 3 seasons?

Golisano allows them to spend the money.

In a league with an ever-increasing salary cap, no less.

Obviously, they're using a soft cap. If they don't HAVE to go over a certain amount, then they won't. Now that they got to the playoffs, they're probably willing to spend a little more.

Again, they're not done in free agency. They're just done for a little while.
