At this point I want all Sabres fans to divide into two camps - those that want him to act completely unlike himself and more like Bob Gainey, and those that are being patient because we just came off the team's fifth division title and third 100-point season in club fucking history.

Im on the patient side... 2 ECF appearances, a presidents trophy, a calder cup d man, a vezna olympic goalie, a number of 20+ goals per season forwards... and a number of prospects that look pretty darn good.... heck Darcy is only how many years into building his own AHL team? Thats only going to benefit the pipe line of talent! Darcy has earned my patients... we all might not agree and how he goes about it, but Darcy and Ruff are always in the mix!!! They are literally two players away, the way I see it... no reason to blow it up guys... yes, they need some tweaks, but come on it's July 2nd!!!!

I am positive, POSITIVE they have a plan and will work towards it...

I agree they might be two or three players away but they do have some guys that need to go as his core group of players aren't good enough. No-one is saying blow it up but adding a guy or two here and there and cut the garbage out like Connolly and Stafford.

i know the season hasn't started yet, but i already i'm thinking about march. if darcy has half a brain, connolly will be shipped out then. the guys in a contract year. he should play his ass off. we could get a real solid return. but in reality, he'll probably suffer from post-concussion, and come next summer we'll resign him for a ridiculous (by sabres standards) amount.

love mair, too. he's one guy that give 100% every night on the ice. it also seems like lindy loves the guy too, with the amount of ice time he gets. i wouldn't be surprised if he does end up getting resigned eventually.

he backchecks well. and has been in the right place at the right time a few times last season. sure he's not really a skilled player, by any means. but i can't think of a lot of times when i've watched mair on the ice and thought, "god this fucker is slacking." he's a heart and soul guy. maybe if some of our "core" gave it their all like him, this team would have made it further this season.

We've been watching different teams then, because I remember thinking more than once "Fuck, Mair is an energy guy, so where's the energy?!"

Yup. Some nights Mair is the perfect energy 4th liner but most of the time he's forgettable.

You're not the first Sabres fan to suggest it. If they sign him, his contract (and the unbearable icky feeling of him being a Sabre) would be worth it if he breaks at least one of Chris Neil's limbs.

Why you gotta horn in on my suggestions?! ;)

I think he would be an asset, once you get used to his jackassedry.

As fans who have had to deal with Tucker for far too long, trust me, we may have gotten used to his douchebaggery while he was a Leaf but we never got desensitized to it ;)

Damn Phil, you have a knack of showing me that my off the cuff ideas actually have merit. I now like this idea very much...but then again anything that would result in the de-arming of Neil or for that matter Ruutuu would make me a happy man.

I'll post this here since it is about Buffalo. Patty Kaleta. I think he knows what he's worth and I think Darcy knows what he's worth. I think the reason he hasn't been signed is because of how long of a deal. Patty I imagine would be looking for a longer term deal. He's a hometown boy, fan favorite and brings it every game. But I doubt Darcy wants to give him the long term deal seeing as how he's always in and out of the line-up because of his bumps and bruises that come with his style of play.

That's what I've been thinking, too. Heaven help Darcy Regier if he doesn't sign Kaleta by 5PM on the 15th and someone swoops in with a 4yr/$850K per deal.

They'll strike out a deal. Kaleta is the one FA Darcy NEEDS to sign in order to keep his job, and probably his life.

There is already unrest on the trading front for Sabres fans but most people will be satisfied if we just make on or two more deals. NOT signing Patty would just be too much to take though.

Well, it's not the RFA we wanted signed first, but Mike Weber accepted his qualifying offer yesterday and will make $550K/$55K on a two-way deal next season.

I don't think we have to worry about Kaleta going anywhere.

I agree. But imagine for whatever reason that Darcy decided to not give him a contract? The mob would be forming in seconds.
