I agree. But imagine for whatever reason that Darcy decided to not give him a contract? The mob would be forming in seconds.

That is true, but Kaleta is replaceable, he isn't a one off guy that can't truly be easily replaced. He's the perfect agitator and we would miss that dearly from him, but the skill and size he brings isn't something that can't be replaced.

I'm not saying I don't want him, I love what Kaleta brings to this team and I love his mouth and how he agitates and we need him on this team. But realistically he is a replaceable member on this team. Do I want him gone, hell no.

Oh I have no illusions that Patty is an Ovechkin man, I'm just saying that being a hometown boy who is living his dream and is an exciting fan favorite.....people would be out for blood. Realistically he's totally replaceable but I would give him the contract for the sake of the fans if I was Darcy.

10g and 15pts and 148 hits with 10:09 TOI per game in 55 games (which scales up to 15g and 22pts and 220 hits in 82 games) last season, career penalties drawn per 60 mins. TOI of 5 (league leader, three years running), integral part of the PK, burgeoning fighter, and he's only going to make $550 next season when he accepts his QO, and you think he's replaceable? The only way a player who brings that much to the table with so little $$$ not on an ELC becomes more irreplaceable is if he took an unheralded step and starting producing Matthew Barnaby numbers of points (in his BUF prime, he put up 31,43,25 points) while still being superpest.

The role is replaceable, but Kaleta in that role is not.

And no, I'm not over-valuing him just cuz of fan worship or him being a fellow Lake Shore Eagle.

By the way, I was wrong before - he was presented his qualifying offer properly, so it's not Darcy not signing him we should be looking at - it's Kaleta possibly rejecting his QO and looking for a payday that we should be looking at.

I'm not saying what everything he does is replaceable. I mean Kaleta does his job better then almost every player in the league. I would hate to lose him.

"The role is replaceable, but Kaleta in that role is not."
That's exactly what I was trying to say also, the role is but Kaleta in it isn't.

I don't want to lose Kaleta and he deserves more then his QO anyways.

His QO would be $575K because it is 110% from his previous contract of $522K. I think he deserves at least 850K or even a bit more for what he brings. Nothing over 1 million but a 850K would be perfect for him.

Your first sentence you said Kaleta is replaceable.

He is, but the person to replace him wouldn't do the job Kaleta does as well.

That is what I mean. You can take a 30 goal scorer and bring in another 30 goal scorer to replace him, but he could be lazy and useless on the PK or something unlike the other. His production is easily replaceable, but not what he brings to the table. That's essentially what I meant by he is replaceable.

I don't want him gone at all, I would hate if he left us because of what he brings to the table for this team.

It's like Ellis, he is an easily replaceable guy in production, but I love what he brings to this team in skating, size, and ability, even if he isn't even going to score 20 or more goals a year.

It seems everytime Kaleta, Ellis, and Goose or another 4th/3rd liner were on the ice they had such a strong forecheck it almost seemed like they would be able to all score 50 goals a year with that on ice presence.

That would suck more....I love the idea of a hometown boy living his dream man. Don't take that away from me.

Let's hope Lalime isn't getting any other offers from other teams to lure him away from us...

Ya know what; if it keeps Miller happy, and he's a good locker room guy, I don't care if he comes back or not.

That being said; other than Lalime what is our other options out there? 2-3M for Turco or Nabby...comon...it aint gonna happen.

Once you get past those guys, everyone else isn't much better than Lalime, and He is well liked and respected in the locker room...why risk messing up chemistry? He's not going to play more than 15 games anyway. So he's not going to have a huge impact on us. And it's not like the teams in the North East have exponentially gotten better and we've taking a huge plummet, We've lost 2 players off last years roster, and everyone can agree that neither were "irreplaceable" players

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of Enroth this season... I think Darcy really wants to see if he's NHL ready. I guess Lalime will have to decide whether or not he wants to split his already limited playing time with Enroth, with the possibility of Enroth taking the backup role completely.

I've been behind Lalime for the most part, but it does get frustrating for everyone when he struggles so hard to get a win, whether it's his fault or not. On the other hand, he does have one of the cutest smiles I've ever seen and his victory dances are the best!

I guess we'll have to wait until next year's trading deadline to see darcy pulls any significant moves

I have a feeling that Darcy is going to bring back Lalime. He had an opportunity to get Biron and for what Biron signed for was cheaper than they are paying that scrub Lalime.
It's going to be the same team as last year minus Tallinder, Lydman, Mair and Ellis. Additions Leopold, McCormick, Ennis, Gerbe, possibly Weber if he can earn a spot.

It would be nice to see the sabres actually make a trade to help this current core of softee's but we are talking about Dumb and Dumber here folks. Probably not gonna happen.
